yeah it is a good soundcard but... $$$! sound blaster live value would be hceaper..

Its a good card, with a tonne of connections.

Chaos: The Live Value would be heaps cheaper, but the Game Theater XP Is more in the range of the SB Live Platnium, with live drive 2. Going up against it, its much better, and heaps cheaper.

Duke: Only Aureal cards support A3D properly (I have a Vortex2 based card over there) and sif you'd buy an Aureal card now... when Aureal don't exist, only as a little part of Creative.

I was tempted to buy a GTXP, rubber_band has one for sale (not working properly for him for some reason).. I was going to buy that. But I can't aford it any more. *shrug*

mmm they look great and all, but, that big box, wouldnt want to take it to a LAN dude...

A3D ownz EAX

Yes, I have a GTXP. U can buy it for $250. It doesnt work properly for me, and I have nfi why. I tried it in both Win2000 and Win98 :/

There's a couple different versions of A3D and the Live only does (emulates) the most basic stuff. I've got both a Live and an MX300 and the performance hit from the Live is much worse than from the MX300.

Personally, I can't hear much difference between them sound quality wise. But then I've got stuffed hearing anyway.

I want a sblive that can do a3d 2.0

i reckon one of the Gullimot ISIS range cards are damn sweet, cant remember the site tho (or how to spell Gullimot for that matter)

i've got a C-Media card i'm using that does A3D nicely, 4speaker surrond and all :)

i prefer my a3d over my friends sblive ..although the frmae loss from a3d is rather gay
