I dunno if this has all been done and discussed before, but I was thinking of buying a new fancy-ass mousepad for the home and to take to QGL and stuff.
The thing is, I basically got $50 to blow on something for the computer, so I decided on a mousepad. Now I dunno s*** about which is good and stuff, so I wanna know your opinions on each of these pads. The Ice Mat (I think it's called that, basically the glass mousepad), the new Steelpad (The latest one), or a Func Pad. All three I can buy for around $50 so I was wondering what the pros and cons of each pad would be. Yeah... |

save your money and get a new mouse instead (logitech mx700/500). Imo mouse good mouse surfaces are easy to duplicate so paying $50 for a pad isnt justified. If i was going to get one though it would depend on whether you use an optical or ball mouse. From reviews ive read id recommend a everglide optica for an optical mouse and a func pad or other everglide for a ball mouse.

Func = woot.
theres a dude that did a group order of them, $50 a pop. about the only chance of you getting one in australia. just search for Func in the search function of the forum, the thread should come up. it'll have his email there |

my next mouse is a mx700 for sure
i have 4 mouseman + ball mice here, 1 in reasonable condition (which im using) 2 hand me downs in s*** condition which i should get around to cleaning up and putting new skates on, and one in optimum condition that i dont use atm for fear of spoiling it (thanks limpz!) i have a v3 as well but as far as im concerned, if it is going to be an optical i use, im going for the mx700 and going the full hog. the v3 is nice, but is overrated as 'THE BEST MOUSE EVAR' i get just as much precision and comfort out of my mouseman, and frankly i feel i perform better with it. but as they dont make em anymore, i guess i have to step up sometime. |

don't get an ice pad if you have an optical mouse.
Also don't listen to other people saying surfaces like func are easy to duplicate, func is smooooooth! Go for the func or steel (I haven't tried the steel ones yet). |

Go the Wireless Intellimouse Blue :P Should be out soon and the budget for a good mouse pad is only $5 at crazy clarks/whoever for a cutting board.

I ordered my mx-500 yesterday from hardly normal, at an reasonable price of $130.
Doesnt come in till 16th-18th Nov which is a shame cause i really dont want to wait that long. :( The woman i spoke to said they were only getting 4 of them into the store, so i made sure my name was written all over one of them. :D |

i saw the mx700 yesterday at harveys in the city. it costs $200 for it... the mouse is slightly smaller than the v3 and my pinky was soughta hanging over/in the air while holding it. it felt nice but not as nice as the v3's... also the scroll wheel is the logitech gayness and those buttons near the wheel... how small can they make them... they may as well not be there.
i also heard about some problems with them skipping when the batteries are running low. still looks ok but i might stick with my v3 for the time being. |

my 20 dorrah allsop mousepad from woolies 0wns for my optical MS mouse. (pad with those water drops on it). It's kinda gay for my ball mouse coz it cloggs up with crap, but then again it's a crap mouse, my other ball mouse didn't get clogged so I'd say it's just the mouse.
for my p200 I use a piece of about 300x200x3 aluminium sheet as a mouse pad. uber! |
