A few months back I returned a faulty motherboard for warrantee. It was replaced and all was good. When I installed it I found that all I got back was another faulty board :S So a couple of days ago I went back to the Disc Shop to return the motherboard for a second time! The technician there was more than helpfull and was going to replace the motherboard on the spot but their one didn't even boot! So instead he gave me a brand new Epox 8KA2 which was very generous seeing that the motherboard I brought in was an Asus A7M.

I am now running my new non-faulty motherboard :D

So a big thanks to them and I wish them all the best in future business.

the disc shop is good in my books

bro bought his system from them, and his PS2 port on his Asus A7V266 died, he took it back and got it RMA'ed apart from the long wait which isnt really their fault, he got a replacement board Asus A7V266-E as they no longer stocked the original.

So a newer mobo out of a problem, it all got fixed fine.

My favourite store is UMART. Purely because they are not too far away (like 10 min over ICB) and they have very good friendly service which is a plus they also have never given me any problems.

Their ordering system is also the best I have yet seen. Nothing even compares.

The thing is that I would have been very pleased with a replacement straight away but for them to give me a current KT333 chipset motherboard was pretty damn good!

So the guy gets a fualty replacement, Then the DS couldn't even get their one to boot so they just gave you an EPOX??
I am not saying it was not nice to give you a new board, What I am saying is the "TECH" musn't be very good at what he is employed to do if the only way to fix things is a new board...
All our replacements work as they are either new or almost always tested before they are given back..

And for the record on the other thread... The Leadtech TI4400 was replaced in under 7 days, The only reason it was not replaced sooner was that it was an older model which we had no more stock of..
7 Days is alot better than the months the the DS takes.

Rubba-Chikin:-
Just to let you know, The ASUS A7V266 should have only taken 7 days to replace MAX. Achieva in Brisbane who RMA the boards have replacements on hand. If your wait was longer than 7 days then all they did was stuff you around.

of course your gonna sayn gamedude is better than TDS because you work for them. it does not show their lack of technical ability, it shows they are interested in keeping the customer happy than making money.

gamedude should learn from them.

[GameDude]

Perhaps they realise that it is more cost effective to replace the board than screwing around with it and hoping that it does not come back. Replacing it would probably cost less in the long run in long run than lost time and wages on the shenanigans that goes on at Game Dude.

Not to mention that in most cases if it is faulty, it will more than likely be unstable for the rest of its life.

You guys at Game Dude should go down and have a look at The Disc Shop and pick up a few social skills as well as see how much better their customer service is than yours.

Dorian do you understand how rude your staff can be. Ask 90% of the people that have shopped within your store, hell make a simple poll while they are standing in line; give them something else to do.

You have low prices sure, but some common courtesy towards your cliental wouldn’t go astray.

i know id prefer to pay a little bit extra to be shown courtesy and be given an opinion or some help when im not sure of something. i think that makes a good business wvwn if it is slightly more expensive. TDS is alsovery cheap too.

I've heard a lot of horror stories about Gamedude, both on here and elsewhere. Whilst the majority of them come from here, a number of them have come from people who've never even heard of QGL let alone the QGL forums...

Im sure they can be rude. Stand outside the door one day and ask every customer that comes out if they are satisfied with their service. You might be surprised by the result........of course I could be wrong.

Still if they service was that bad then they wouldnt get the customers back unless of course the customers are just plain stupid.

Stupidity... Besides that, there's no point in travelling all the way out to whatever god forsaken part of Brisbane they are in to save a measly $10 to $20... Stop being tightarses and pay for quality service at another, CLOSER store - there are more than a few of them in Brisbane.

Manshoon I think you find that the customers are happy with the price, not the service that they provide.

Back to the disc shop, I've just assembled a pc this weekend with the few parts purchased there, by a mate. The service was fine except a particular staff member couldn't remember if they had certain stock or not, which the sales staff don't really need to be 100% up to date on.

Personally I prefer CA even though they are more expensive and a but further than the Discshop. But if I need spare parts I buy from the Discshop.

Gamedude is just to far out of the way, plus I an not to crash hot about the level of service they provide, sure the prices are cheap, but is the saving on the parts worth the pitants that you would have used in fuel getting there.

Heres what I think of some stores I’ve purchased parts from

CA
* More expensive
* Decent tech support
* Quite quick in terms of RA
* After sales support +++
* Hard to get parking, but decent location

Discshop
* Reasonable prices
* Staff aren't the sharpest pencils in the pack / friendly non the less
* RA is well….. reasonable
* In a covenant location close to everything

Floppy Dik’s
*Incompetent f***ups!

Gamedude
* Very good prices
* Decent tech support
* RA is still a mystery to me, seems to be whether or not management approves the part for RA or whatever the case.
* Rude Staff
* After sales support seems a mystery some say its can be good but most recon it utter s***
* Location is in the middle of nowhere.

Sunday Computer market vendors
* Average – extremely good prices depends on what you are looking for
* Hard to track some vendors for RA

Sunlit
* See floppy diks and up there with edge

Eyo
* Pricey
* Fairly good for everything

Edge
* Simply the worst in every area, no wonder they went broke

PC Case gear
* Quick response in terms of orders, postage, and RA
* Can be pricey

LTG Computers
* You think Gamedude has rude staff
* Location is worse than Gamedude as well
* Tech support is likened to a monkey wielding a screwdriver

BBD wholesale
* Pretty friendly
* Cheap if you buy in bulk

Umart
* Cheap prices
* Price baiting
* Quick in most cases RA and after sales support
* Friendly staff
* Parking is a pain in the arse – sort of out of the way location

InfoTech
* Average Prices
* Some tech support
* Average aftermarket sales support
* Good location

Really its all about personal preference

have an online orders desk and a "i have nfi about computers tell me what i should buy" desk

Splat and the rest just shut up about stores and their service. Or else the same that happened to Ocau will happen here.. Taken from Ocau Terms and conditions of use of their forums
No Discussion of Sunlit/Compugate:
Until further notice, discussions or comments relating to Sunlit, Compugate or the persons Paul Johnson or David Wu (Sunlit directors) are not permitted. The forum software will attempt to automatically blank out the words Sunlit or Compugate if they are used - making variations of these words to bypass this automatic filter is not permitted and may get you banned forever. We do not read every post, but people can report posts to us. If we receive notice that you are discussing Sunlit, Compugate, Paul Johnson or David Wu you will be banned from making further posts on the OCAU forums!
Also
We recently faced a serious problem in which some people claimed that they may have been defamed by comments which were posted by some other people on the OCAU forums. Despite the fact that we made it very clear in the site documentation that OCAU are not responsible for comments made by other people and indeed there is a section of the Broadcasting Services Act which seems specifically designed to protect Internet Content Hosts in our situation, they were threatening to sue us and forced us to obtain legal advice. This is a serious concern (and expense) for the operators of this website - and one reason why the OCAU forums have been down for so long.
Lastly..
If you post a message about someone and they think that it may be defamatory, we will happily and fully comply with any court order requiring us to hand over everything we know about you and that post. If we didn't, we would likely be found in contempt of court which carries severe penalties including imprisonment - so don't think for a second we won't hand over any and all info we have. Remember, you are not anonymous on these forums! We log your IP address and connection time and if a court requires us to reveal that information, it can be used to link you to your ISP (they know who you really are).

omg you are really stupid then aren't you. If you had any clue then you would have realised that I had had a faulty motherboard for a couple of months, then didn't have a motherboard at all, then when the 'replacement' came back it too was faulty! After that it would have taken another month or so for another replacement to come back.
If you had any idea about how your customers felt then you would have realised that after all the stuffing about I would have been getting pissed off.
What The Disc Shop did was very kind and in doing so they have secured another customer.

i respect trogs position how hes placing himself in the position to get suied if he doesn't get rid of defamating comments.

My point is that the TECH could not get their spare parts working. I talk to plenty of different distro's and the generall comment is that the DS tech's are hopeless, 90% of goods returned are not faulty and returned back to them.
What do you think happens to those USED items them huh??? Yes that's right they repackage it and sell it as new again to you unsuspecting people.
We spend more time making sure what is the fault, We get a better rep with the distro's, The customer is better informed on how to avoid the problem in the future as well and we don't get stuck with used items..

A small amount of you complain about the service, A few have experienced our current shop and the rest just go along like sheep behind these few and listen to what they say.
The things that are complained about are not fixable till we move.
Lines:- I can't help that 4 time the people visit my shop over others. When you watch us you don't exactly see us engage in coversation we just take your order and move the line as quick as we can.... Can't ask for more than that.
Phone:- We can't fix this till we move - Telstra limitation.
RMA/Warranty:- We swap out goods after testing them if we have stock, And if no replacement is possible in a reasonable amount of time we always offer a few alternatives. What I find usually is the few who complain either damaged the goods or there is no fault... OF the damaged goods we find we usually only charge a small service fee and fudge the RMA to the supplier and get these people a replacement and not only that we TELL YOU what you did wrong - NOW that's is what a real TECH is supposed to do. IF the part is not faulty we can't exactly just take it back can we??

You can say that the DS swap of the board is good customer service, I dissagree to a point. The swap was OK but given the amount of stuffing around already it was wise of them to do that. We never get to this point as our replacements work in the first place.
As far as the guys at the counter...
You can call them all you want if you like.. You may as well say these things to yourselves in the mirror because the people I employ are computer users whom almost all are from Forums like this one and OCAU just like yourselves. My bet is that you couldn't handle the work I dish out anyway, That's why you people whinge in the first place...

I can back that up. RMA boards back from manufacturers that were already replaced went back to new stock. At least they did where I used to work.

This is why companies usually only offer replacements on DOA stock as they get NEW stock as a replacement from the distributor. On older stock it will get sent back to the manufacturer or replaced with "replacement" stock they have set aside in the warehouse.
