just logged in to westpac to see how much is on my credit card, when i noticed they have a new feature.

you can access all your accounts from westpacs site.

i tried it out. after downloading a westpac activex, could see my suncorp and 2 uk bank accounts from westpacs site.

does anyone else think this is a little dodgy? I wonder if all my passwords are saved in the activex or the registery, lol.

Yeh, its a little scary the power that you have over your funds in netbank and all you need to get in is a username/password.

But as long as you know how to clear your cache/cookies and dont use dumbf*** password saving programs like gator then you're pretty safe.

sif ever use netbanking on a public terminal.

i know that doesn't cover me completely with security but i rarely leave this system in an insecure state so i feel pretty confident.

After I found out about a certain program that records keystrokes without you being aware of it, I think all e-commerce is pretty dodgy.

thats why some online banks dont use keystokes.

i think anz has an keyboard on the screen so u have to use your mouse. and its randomly possitioned on the screen each time.

the natwest bank use something pretty cool too. u have 3 text boxes and it says enter the first, forth, and second characters of your password.

each time it picks another sequence.

It's not the software-based key loggers you need to worry about - it's the hardware-based ones such as Keykatcher which are not able to be detected.
