I was just reading Planet Black and White, and it seems EA accidentally released beta versions of Black and White to some stores, instead of the full version. Somehow (god knows how), when the cds were getting pressed, some of the gold master copies were accidentally replaced with beta copies, so some beta copies were shipped to stores.

I dont know if we're going to cop any of this here, but if you start playing and find you have errors with your Dial Up networking or problems on your AMD processor, odds are you have a beta version (as these were known problems in the beta), so get onto EA and they'll replace it for you :)

UPDATE: Ok, so this isn't true after all, just some naughty story that somebody started spreading round the news sites. Have a look here for the "truth"(thanks to b2 for the link).

EA is just so f***ing stupid. First they stuffed up the world-wide simultaneous release, now this...how daft can you get...They are the biggerst publisher of PC games you think they would have got it right by now.

Actually you're kinda right Khel, if you read into the whole bonanza a little more, EA are claiming "oops, i think i pressed beta cds again" and lionhead are just outright denying that it could possibly happen

So basically, the distributor, who's payment depends on how much they sell and their reputation also at stake, they are willing to claim they've pressed betas.

Personally i would believe EA as the boys at lionhead would still be too musy partying to know if betas are out there or not =P

But it's up to you who you believe, lionhead say no, EA say yes.

Nah, honestly, I can't fathom how beta cds could make it to pressing and nobody could notice. I mean, come on, thats just absolutely ludicrous incompetance. EA have been around for so long and done this so many times, I just can't possibly see how it could happen.
