Stick a pre-order down on Tribes 2, its due in a week or so, and its going to totally rule the online gaming world :)

Another option is Ultima Online. And for those who don't like paying US$10/month (like me) there are a lot of great private shards to play on for free. They use a system called UO-DEVX, or something. I am playing on 2 atm, Norwegian Wood and The Alter Realm.
This is just a suggestion to get away from FPS'ers

Or, if you're looking for an MMORPG that isn't totally crap, you could try Everquest or Asheron's Call.

once you get a fair bit of stuff going on the game bogs down. by the time i got into the second realm and id built up my villiage and taken the next 2 the auto saves were taking over 2 minutes at a time.

im waiting till i get my new hdd before i start playing it again, hell i might even buy the full ver when it finally gets here.
