oi... i got a s***y old celeron 466.. which i can easily get to 581.. on a 83mhz bus.

most boards i have tried only allow my to push my good 'ol celeron no further than 83 bus.. hence not being able to destroy the bitch.... WHICH IS MY GOAL!!!
HAHAHAHAHA

anyway.. anybody no of a m/b capable of letting me set my poor little 466.. to ahh.. about 700+... MWAHAHAHA..

so yeah.. whats a good s370 intel board???????

the problem with the 466 is that it uses the old PII core , and its .35 micron Fab, maybe with a pelt and a Fop38 ya be able to push the front side buss speed to 100mhz :)

what does 'being a p2 core' and '.35 micron fab' have to do with how overclockable it is? all you got to do kakarot is up the voltage and front side bus, your multiplier is locked at 7 so you cant change that, a bios flash for your current motherboard should do the trick in regards to recognizing the speed above XXXmhz

i havent heard/read of much success with Celeron 466's though

the .35 was hotter the smaller the micron the cool (a tiny bit) it runs i think

ok.. i got pc133 (kingsmax ram) 128mg of it
well i got 256.. but i can only afford to fry 128 of it..=-)

umm.. yeah i adjust the voltage and all the little bits and pieces.. but she still wont go.. i want someone to tell me a motherboard that will let me change the bus to 100+.. as i cant go further than 83 atm... and i thought thats coz i got a s*** board....

lol ash i guess you dont know much about overclocking
but the smaller .18 micron in the new copermine cores
have a smaler die size hence its less septiable to heat
the .35 micron die size genirates more heat and there for its harder to overclock.
also the pii core really suxed for overclocking.

I havent had good results with the 466 either, one went to 575, the other 525 (from memory, it was awhile ago).
Those early celeron cores were part of the P2 fab, they never came out higher than 600mhz, and there weren't a lot of 600s, more 500 and 550 chips in the P2.
I'd also suggest a peltier.

For a reasonable guide, go here.

you simply wont get the 466 to anything higher than 83mhz

procs based on the old core max out at 550 - 600 - it JUST WONT GO

afaik there were 2 sets of 466's put out. one on the ol p2 core and one a a newer core (p3?).

i got one that is runing at 66 nhz. and i think that means it was the old school one. the newer ones shoudl be runing on a 100 mhz fsb

giririss - nah man, the only Celeron chip that came out in .18 CuMine die and .25 PII Die was the 533 - hence the 533 and 533A

Addiontally, 466's are only celerons, PII's were never released at that speed. And the Celerons only started coming at 100 FSB v. recently (800 i think?)

the only celerons i thought that werebased on a p2 core was the 266-300-333 series, then they bought out a ppga package? and yes i realise the smaller the micron the less power usage therefore less heat primal im quite aware about overclocking seeing as i run 3 overclocked machines

my next question is: is it possible to unlock the multiplier on a p3 800 coppermine???????????
i heard rumours that fiddlin wif that pins and s*** does the same sort of thing as the pencil job with the durons.....
is there ANY truth here?

The Celeron 266-300-333 was the same as a P2 except with NO L2 cache. the 300A-333A and up to 533 PPGA, were still the same core except with 128K of full speed on die cache.

i think i was getting confused when they changed from SECC2 to PPGA that is all, although i must say the chunkiness of the chips are miles apart
