Next QGL Lan will be on the 14th of April, and we have some suprises for you :) Firstly, it will be the first QGL lan featuring the new Cisco powered network, so expect it to cain! This lan will be at ANZ Stadium, home of the mighty QGL for the next year.

Thanks to Telstra and Wireplay we are pleased to announce that all our lans at ANZ will now have full internet access! Telstra have placed two uncapped Telstra Bigpond cable modems at the venue for our internet needs during the event.

There will be lots more happening with this in the future, including giving you clans the chance to take on clans at other AusGamers lans on the same day, while both clans are sitting together, this sure will rock. When we have other lans on the same day we will run competitions state against state to see who the best really is.

We expect you all to be connected to the AusGamers IRC channel (#ausgamers on Enterthegame) at all times during the event and are working with enterthegame to ensure that their blocking methods on multiple connections wont effect the ip's that are connected to the QGL Lan or any other AusGamers lan.

Use of our Cable connections will be limited to web browsing, IRC, ICQ and small downloads. Download speed per user will be capped so you wont be able to download huge files, also you'll get bitchslapped by trog if he catches you :P

What else do we have instore for this lan... We will be running dedicated servers for heaps of different games again, all our dedicated server needs will hopefully now be provided by the power of Gateway, we expect to be running Tribes2 Servers (release date 6th April) Black and White games will be high on the agenda (release date 6th april) obviously we will probably do somthing for CS and Quake3 in terms of comps but what is undesided yet.

Registrations will open on the 4th April giving everyone 10 days to register for the Event. Player limit will be capped at 350 players, as ever there will be cool aircon. We will be doing drinks and jolt will be back :) Also since its so hard to get food around there we are going to do hotdogs and some other food for you.

There are some other comps we are planing for the event, but I'll leave them till we get back from CPL Pacific.

Only web and IRC? What about stuff like Asheron's Call and Everquest, cause it would be awesome to get a bunch of people together, and go into the game and form a huge group and cause massive slaw.

Freewheelin; I assume you are referring to your two-AusGamers-lans-at-once question, in which case we're going to take those issues as they arrive. I believe we have roughly 500 ports available with the Cisco gear (before someone starts counting on the linked image, there's 700 available for CPL-Pacific, but some of the switches are going back to Cisco after that event) - that would probably cover 1.5 lans, so we'll have to make up the remainder from previous purchased gear.

QGL will probably continue to try and upgrade its own network gear to support 300 players anyway, but it will take quite a while to purchase the 200 or so ports we require :/

The event will only be one day and finish at 12 midnight on the 14th, hence we have only mentioned the 14th.

The event after that is in June, again at the ANZ stadium and will be 2 days of qgl loving

f***ing gay warez/cs fagets stop thinking about the cable ffs. You dont goto the biggest lan in qld just to leech your manporn off the net. As it says its capped for each user so use your head ffs.

er, can you people not read? "download speeds will be capped per user", as in, no, there will be no uber leeching.

The cable is supplied primarily to facilitate inter-state matches; web/irc/icq etc will be supplied as available bandwidth dictates (that is, if a match gets choppy, we'll probably shut everything else off) -

I really wouldn't suggest using it for downloading, unless you're stuck with like a 28.8k modem on a s***ty phone line at home, in which case even 5k/sec will probably be a god-send :)

Okies, that's my first question answered.
I don't mean to be demanding (well actually, yeah I do) but how much it going to be?
Nathan

We usually have to sit down and work out our financial status & expected number of attendees before deciding the price, but I'd expect $20 for the day.

Don't hold me to that though :)

$20 for a day is a bit....blarg....but hmmmm....

Hey, Nathan man, you let me in for free at QGL, and I won't complain about anything :)
I just recently lost my job, and I am a tad strapped for cash. Cause it's not just the LAN entry you have to pay for, you have drinks, nibbles and dinner etc too. Now, when you are 17, don't have a job, and your father recently left your mother, then it's a bit hard to pay 50 bucks each LAN.
I also have to pay for my own cable bill and anything else I need too.
Just saying that $25 for last QGL (2 days) and then $20 for a one day LAN. I dunno.

For a one day LAN, the cost of the venue goes down, but the cost of tables and chairs does not. That's why the price is $20 instead of $15.

I must say I personally understand how much it sucks being in high school with no money (having gone through that myself), but unfortunately neither ANZ nor Richlands Party Hire are going to care :/

If Telstra are supplying the cable internet access, don't count on it working. The downtime recently has been shocking.

How are the 2 Cable Modems going to be linked? Is it going to be 1 for Interstate clan matches, one for everyone else, or 2 for everything, with load balancing? I guess if Cisco provided all those switches, they could provide a nice router. And Jim will figure something out.. he always does :D
BOB the Fruit

I got it from a old man in an alley for tree fiddy :D

And seeing as I have no DVD player, having Evangelion on DVD would be really f***ing useless.
I plan on purchasing them on DVD when I get my new system completed.
Also plan to get Serial Experiments Lain on DVD too.
