EuroGamer have a preview of the upcoming Warcraft III from Blizzard.
Probably the biggest change from the Warcraft formula is the increased focus on individual heroes rather than overwhelming forces - the game is supposed to reward small armies with good tactics rather than simply giving victory to whoever can mine resources the fastest and dump a huge number of grunts into their enemy's base.
An interesting shift for the RTS genre (probably because of the increased focus on RPG elements; it'll be interesting to see how it plays with the heros. I wonder if it has anything to do with the shift to 3d and not being able to display heaps of units on the screen?

Don't think it's not RTS though. Blizzard's Initial idea was to make it more RPG like, then alot of fans etc complained so they shifted their ideas to focus apon RTS. I think they are full of s*** personnally, One of those 'hugely hyped' deals about the game for 3 years before release. Kinda like Black & White.
