Here's an easy way to figure that out.

1) Find a piece of text to transcribe (write out).

2) Get someone to run a timer for 30 seconds. They should also note how many mistakes you make. Find how many words you can type in 30 seconds and multiply that by 2. Viola there is your WPM along with error count.

There are programs to do it for you but you can easily find a rough estimate yourself.

It's no use being able to write crap fast. I could only wish that i could think up coherent and structured writing at the same speed as i type.

The faq on that typerA site also cracks me up.

"Q: Who's playing this?

A: On the highscore list we've seen players from places like (in no special order) sun.com, nasa.gov, f-secure.com, ericsson.se, nokia.fi, microsoft.com, intel.com, compaq.com, ....

These have played but haven't made it to the high-score list yet: senate.gov, europarl.eu.int, eduskunta.fi, boeing.com, cisco.com, dell.com, ibm.com, volvo.se, ... draw your own conclusions."

Man.. how do people get 100+ wpm?? I am getting about 65 to 70wpm and I already feel that there are not that much for improvement. As it is... when I am not making mistakes, my typing flows very well and there is no hesitation whatsoever.

True, I probably can get to about 80 or 90wpm if I am a bit more accurate and don't waste time on backspace. Oh well.. hats off to Raider for getting 100+ wpm.

LD99 I know what ya mean, when I was typing that speed I didn't think I could improve either, I can sustain over 100wpm now, and on shorter documents around 115-120
