Both multiplayer and single-player.

Multiplayer has been f***ed over by the copious amount of fags who do nothing but backstab and are so overely concerned about their score they chase you from your base back to theirs in CTF when you dont even have the flag and you've just respawned... They don't kill you because you can turn around and kill them because they suck...

It's tiring to see the stupid people who don't know how to prioritize threats in games.

Wait a second... oh that's right, all online FPS's are riddled with the same tiresome under-age kids hiding behind daddy's computer or complete arsehole's who have the intellect and playing style of one.

The sad thing is, there have been two updates since the version you're playing, that have patched all teh lame, except for some f***ed up reason they haven't been releasing it officially as a patch... just as the source for mods... wtf!?!?

Hopefully they'll turn one of their sources into an official patch in next few weeks. Maybe they've just been releasing the sources as proof that they are doing something about the backstabbing etc...

s*** like backstab, lunges, kicks, pull and pushing have been reduced/changed.

But if you are expecting people will behave themselves in such a popular public game, you're kidding yourself.

Try duelling with Saberists, and not worrying about getting into group fights, if that's your thing.

Or play on servers with guns, I find the backstabers are fewer there.

I usually do just duel Goa'uld, I dont mind duels at all, usually sit around on FFA server and duel.

CTF w/guns s***s me because 8 people will chase you for no particular reason other than you spawned.

And if u have flag its 8 people with rocket's which u cant push away cause your busy trying to look where your going :/

So I try to avoid CTF =)

It was good when it first came out.. now it simply sucks because of the people ruining it.

And all the freakin noobs who console kill/kill you while you just challenged someone etc. give me the s***s as well :/

i'll make teh bad maen go away.

I've pretty well gotten sick of CTF, the minute the noobs realised that they could use guns on me if they had absorb on (otherwise i'd pull all their guns :D ) it became impossible to compete with gun spammers.

Hopefully Ausgamers or GameArena will implement JedivMerc SOON!

FFA with lightsabres used to be fun, then all the tards invaded and just ran backwards for the whole freaking game. Then there are the WANKERS that spend the entire map using force grab and dropping you off the edge, I dont care if its a f***ing tactic, its f***JING LAM

That's also true, but that's because nobody fights properly... Also it takes too much punishment to kill someone, its hard enough to hit them... then when you do, it does FA damage, which is ok for duels, but when there is a big group of ppl, u hardly ever get a kill uless your lucky to deliver a hit while they're low on health.

The damage system is poor.

Bottom line JK2 has lost all of its finesse

Its a shame that lamers use scripts to do the gay backstabs ... whatever you call it it is still CHEATING

The fact that it has no cd key support, in my opinion, means that it was designed primarily for single player action and multiplayer was sadly not a huge consideration. I personally have no desire to support games that do not even have basic security mechanisms for online play so I imagine we'll be turning off the AusGamers server fairly shortly and replacing them with something that will be supported better online (eg, sof2). Very sad stuff.

that's a poor way to judge a game

yeah it has its flaws, but it's the only quake 3 engine game that doesn't piss me off, so it's gotta be doing SOMETHING right!

I can't stand JK2. The sabre-fighting is lame and is just a button-bash. The guns are copies from every other FPS out there. The graphics are average and the animations awkward.

Get rid of the servers whenever you want, trog, and it won't bother me one bit :)

nah, there are different moves and crap, i know. but really, the swordplay in it is VERY limited in scope. Try Severance: Blade of Darkness. It has some examples of how melee fighting *should* be done.

Unfortunately now (thanks to Half-Life and its retardedness) server admins time is greatly limited. Ironically, because of Half-Life, the standard for the base line of support that admins (at least those that are like me) expect to see in dedicated server games has greatly increased. For all its f***ed-ness, Half-Life has a pretty good level of admin support in the software.

Jedi Knight 2, by sheer virtue of the fact that there is no global identifier for each user (a la wonid, pb UID, etc), is immediately infinitely harder to manage.

In my opinion, game developers need to learn the hard way NOT to let games out on the streets without a certain level of support. Its really important to remember that server admins aren't always guys that run servers because they love the game - they're people that work in ISPs that couldn't care less about it and don't want to have to deal with all the bulls*** that comes with running a server. </rant>

meeh with the modes of gameplay It's a wonder why loki is having a rant, I have played on there once and I was heaps pissed off, Till I found the Gameplanet 1 on 1 Dual server's, theres like 6 servers in Dual mode !

icewyrm: no, it's just difficult to come to grips with because, as you would expect, even a crappy enemy who manages to get a big hit on you can put you in a world of hurt. Once you get used to it, and learn to dodge and strike and predict what moves the enemies are going to use, it's really, really good.

Ever play "Die By The Sword" ?

The combat system in that was awesome.

Arrow Keys controled player, Numeric Arrows controlled your swinging arm.

And another button extended your arm out.

So you could do small close-to-body swings with little damage, or do a big swing with your arm extended and further reach.

the good thing about it was, the more momentum you had behind the swing, the more damage it did.

And you could cut off legs, arms (so they had no wep hehe) decapitations, cut them in half, etc.

And multiplayer was cool.

Its how JK2 should have been done IMO :/

Then work something out for the force powers (roller + third mouse button || second mouse button) or sumfin..

Would be cool.

Also for a lightsabre, it doesnt do diddly s*** in terms of damage.

You can do that in JK2 single player.

Cut their arm off, and the stormtroopers run away, or surrender. It's hilarious.

I agree that multiplayer could have been done better though. But I'm pretty good at it, which makes it a lot of fun for me.

They should have actually had proper lightsabre stances and fighting style forms, instead of just light, medium, heavy.
