Hey guys.. my parents want to upgrade our home cinema.. we already have a 68cm tv.. so basically we are looking for

DVD player - multi region
amp with 5.1 speakers

if any home audio gurus can give me some advice that would be good..

also they want to spend around 1k so no 8000 dollars speakers thanks :P

we did, they farken slaw, mm THX rawks. $2700 from hardly normal. (we know the guy there so we got it for $1700)

but we got ours in gold

umm Ad, sorry to say, but for 1k, you arent going to get a very good "home cinema", you could probably get a half-decent amp + dvd player for that but not speakers as well. i'd start having a look around kmart/big W and see what you can get there. also, clicky here

You can always buy one of those entry level DVD + 5.1 kits that you might be able to squeeze out for around a grand or so.

It'll be enough to get your family going at least.

None of them will exactly have a sound that fills the Sydney Opera House, but for a starter kit it's pretty good value.

Try and make sure if you get one they dont have some customised interconnect bulls***, that'll stop you from turfing some bits and keeping others as you upgrade.
