A good sony monitor is going to last you for about 2-3 years and still kick ass.
a gf4 will become outdated within 6-12 months. |

I hope that worked. any way, they have those sweet monitors. I heard the 17" version is better than the Samsung 17" flat. but I'm not sure about 19" Oh, I doubt u'll find those monitors on the site but give them a call. |

shame you cant save for a bit longer and spend around $1200 on a sony g420 19". bought me one about a month ago and it is one of my best purchases to date. If you look around you might find it cheaper (around $1100 if you know someone) but i'd say its worthwile saving up a decent amount and getting yourself the top of the range. When you are talking about a monitor or something you will have for a long time, its my philosophy to splurge and get the best.

Yeah, i'd probably go the monitor, you can always have a good v-card. But you want something awesome to watch it on.

500 (approx) for a SONY 17" Trinitron, new model. 1600x1200 60Hz. 1280x1024 85Hz.
All you need, a SONY 17" Is going to last longer, and be a better monitor then speding good money on s*** (bottom-of-the-range) 19" monitors. |

If you can afford it get a 21" monitor it's the best thing you can do. Your eyes will thank you for it and it doesn't matter how crappy your vid card is everything will look better :)
Sony is IMHO way overpriced. I wouldn't fork out $1,000 for a sony when you can buy a Mitsubishi or LG or Viewsonic for much much cheaper. Just make sure you buy a monitor with a low dotpitch, and high refresh rates. And if at all possible see it running before you buy it. |

Sounds nice. I was thinking of one of the LGs as a LANning monitor (rather than lugging a 21" around). I wasn't impressed with the DPI on it though. I think Hitachi had a flatscreen with a better dpi. But I'm not sure what the Hitachi quality is like generally.

Ummm Shotty..
the 17"s can't do 1280x1024 @ 85hertz.. well mine cant with a gf3. Mine can do 1280x960 @ 85 hertz, 1280x1025 @ 75 hertz, 1600x1200 @ 60 hertz, all resolutions past 1600x1200 it can do @ 60hertz, BESIDES 2048x1536, which it can't do at all |

My LG 795FT plus 17" max res is 2048x1536 but then again my Geforce 4's max res is 2048x1536 as well ...
1600x1200 75hz I would rather have a 19" though, the only 19" I would consider are Sony or Viewsonic. Other 19" have the same specs as my 17". |

Okay all of you are saying sony is the best that is the biggest load of f***ing crap
Hitachi make better 19 inch displays than sony.... www.hitachidisplays.com.... they have a 0.22mm aperture grille better than the 0.24 sony standard gayness and they have higher refresh rates pfft suck it down sony lovers. www.umart.com.au you want the cm722 :) |
