According to a story in Variety magazine Aussie actor Geoffrey Rush is to star in a new movie titled The Banger Sisters starring Goldie Hawn and Susan Sarandon. The report goes on to state that Susan Sarandon will co-star as a former groupie and friend of the Hawn character, who is trying to hide her "free-spirited past."

Kurt Russell is demanding a body double for the hotter sex scenes in the sequel to Basic Instinct. He is said to have been "open-jawed" when he saw the new script for the film. In the plot he plays another cop assigned to break pulp novelist Catherine Trammell, played by Sharon Stone. He doesn't want to go to the same sexual lengths which almost caused Michael Douglas marriage problems in the 1992 original. He told a close friend: "I don't mind getting my clothes off if the context is right but I know when to draw the line. There are scenes I shall just opt out of."

Ray Park has landed the lead role in a new £50 million movie version of the comic strip character Iron Fist. The Glasgow-born martial arts star gave Ewan McGregor a tough time in the last Star Wars epic as Darth Maul, and also starred in X-Men as Toad and was also the headless horseman in Sleepy Hollow. Iron Fist is based on the Marvel Comics story about a mysterious Westerner raised in a secret temple in the Far East. He returns to the US to avenge his parents' murder and sets about restoring law and order on a wider scale. The story has been written by John Turman, whose credits include The Incredible Hulk.
