hahha

this game rocks!!

i just killed walton simons

he thought he was all high and mighty tell i shoved a gep rocket up his arse.

he uses his plasma gun on me and nearly killed me as i was running away to get a good position, thankfully me health regeneration was maxed out,

i turned around fired a GEP rocket at him, and blew his weapon up, poor bugger s*** himself and decided to run, when he was opening the door i sent a laser guided GEP rocket up his Kiber and he went BOOM!!!

mmmmmmmm chunks...
It was very funny at the time

Yeah killing Walton Simons is a good part of Deus Ex but there are harder bits ahead :). If you think killing with a GEP rocket is hard, you try doing it with an assault rifle and auto shotgun with very little ammo in either :) (I decided to drop the GEP gun since it took up far too much inventory space).

When I got to Walton, all I had on me was a silenced pistol and a kick ass sniper rifle. So, I just spammed his ass with LAMs. I think he died after the 5th, but I used about 16, just to make sure.

Thief 1 and 2, Deus Ex, Ultima 1 to what-are-they-up-to-now?, Shogo, that game with Shodan the AI, and a myriad of others including CS are the gayest games ever made.... Go play some real games, like TFC, UT and Q3

Well, Warren Spector (developer of Deus Ex) is one of the best in the industry. What amazes me is that fact that people immediately dismiss a game that requires you to put in effort and thought. If you want a mindless game that any idiot can play, may I suggest you play Cheat-Strike. I'm sure you people will feel right at home with a poorly developed product. Deus Ex may have been made on UT but SO f***ING WHAT. Do you not care about good design anymore? I personally like games that actually make you think. Anyone who dismisses Deus Ex has either not played it for very long (or at all for that matter) and/or doesn't understand it. The whole idea of Deus Ex is that you can complete it in MANY different ways - the decision is up to you. Perhaps some of you are not used to such freedom in games and are turned away by having to decide things for yourself.

I'm actually in the middle of playing Deus Ex for the second time and its still great fun the play. The first time I played it I took a the friendly route and stunned/knocked out people rather than killed them. This time I'm playing it with a shoot-anything-that-moves mentality, with a little stealth thrown in. I find that the increased combat strength augmentation combined with trained skills in low-tech weapons is rather nice - you can take out most guards with one knife hit. Now I wish I had kept the throwing knives I found in the med-bay :).

i actually started playing deus ex again a week or so ago, just to play something besides d2x.

i never finished it the first time as i got bored around the time when you get on the plane

but it definately does rock, even though its got the odds stacked against it (ie its an ion storm game, using the unreal engine)

its got a nice ss2 feel about it without the annoying lack of ammo. and don't hate it just because hunter likes it.

ahh yes i recently completed it the second time :)
i couldnt be bothered being stealthy i just go all guns blazing

i was master in melee, and had combat strength aug maximized :)

so my sword did major damage :)

Deus Ex was, and still is, a gaming materpiece.

I completed it. It was fantastic except for a few boring bits. Oh and if I may quote lowtax

"First of all, let me get this message across: the ION Storm team that developed Deus Ex is not the same team that was responsible for Daikatana, the game which, in all likelihood, could cause John Romero to be tried for war crimes against humanity. The Deus Ex team, headed by he underrated game designer smarty man Warren Spector, has stood out as a totally separate entity from the Daikatana team ever since day one. For example, when Romero was running around, copyrighting catchphrases and trademarking Daikatana home enema kits, the Deus Ex team was actually working. When the Daikatana team was playing Soul Caliber and posting offensive messages to public forums, the Deus Ex group continued to work. When Killcreek was out showing her breasts to various gaming magazines which have since gone bankrupt, Spector and his crew kept working. There was no hype, there were no massive amounts of publicity spewed into every available gaming orifice, there was simply a team of people dedicated to making the greatest damn game they could. As a result, Deus Ex has turned out to be one of the best and most engrossing games ever."

Finished it twice, would probably play it over again, but it seems games get more fun the less you play them..

Probably the best game I have ever played. So many options and avenues to explore in completing the task at hand. Engrossing story line and plot development, interaction within items in the game environment..totally had me enthralled for the two weeks or so I played it constantly.

One level, i remember it was in a huge underground complex I could not for the life of me get through a corridor system due to the Mj12 commando's and other hostiles. I treid like 20 times to blast my way through, sneak my way through - no luck.

Then I decided to bait' them and let them chase me down this long corridor, jumped into a rec room and quickly hacked the computer that controlled the gun sentry turrets in the hallway to attack any moving object. Quickly closed the door to the rec room and listen to the carnage outside when they all rushed into the corridor trying to get at me inside the rec room Deactivated the turrets from 'anything moving mode' came out and was surrounded by all the dead bad arse guys I had tried for three nights to get past.

Completed my objective with a great feeling of 'out-thinking the enemy. Great stuff.

I liked Theif, very original game with great atmosphere. I can see that it wouldn't hold much interest for the brain-dead Deathmatch junkies.

Well, theres zillions of devious little methods I've used to get past obstacles, but the only one I can remember right now is at LaGuardia airport with the patrolling security bots. I didn't have a GEP gun or any LAMs at that point in the game so I had to use another method, which was pretty cool. Anyhow I happened to have the lifting/pushing strength augmentation so I basically watched the paths of the security bots and when they had gone I placed an explosive barrel next to the path they'd follow. When they come back... shoot the barrels and BOOM no more security bot.

One favourite method I use quite a bit is the gas-grenade and tranq. dart method. Basically you peg a gas grenade into a group of soldiers, then whilst they are busy coughing and whatnot you shoot a tranq. dart into them and simply wait for them to all drop like flies. I also enjoy lobbing scrambler grenades at bots who happen to be standing next to bunch of other bots :). And yeah there are a few boring bits but don't let them detract from an otherwise brilliant game.

Also a few equations

Rat/cat/pigeon + locked-on GEP gun = chunks.

Soldiers + explosive barrels + GEP gun w/white phosphorus rockets = giant barbeque.

MIBs + TNT crate + high ledge in Area 51 = big explosion.

Well I just played a game of Deus Ex multiplayer and at first it seemed to be just a slapjob, but on closer inspection it is multiplayer with a very different style. You can do a variety of things that you do in singleplayer which ends up making for some interesting games. For example I hacked into the security computer on the area51 multiplayer map and set the turrets to attack enemies... this of course mowed the crap out of anyone who came near my turrets :).
