here is a tutorial

I hope you understand cos I don't

From watching stargate I know you can put literally any power source on a feedback loop to create an explosion and if that don't work... reverse the polarity.

Short any number of the 12v rails and see what happens. or look for the fuse (either clear glass or ceramic tube) and try to blow it.

Step1: Don't f*** with 240v power systems AT ALL if you don't know what you're doing.
Step2: Take the computer case to someone who knows what they're doing and ask them to install a cheap fog machine in it so when they turn it on smoke pours out from every hole
Step3: Laugh

You want to make the computer trip the switches in his house? What the hell are you trying to do EXACTLY. Saying you want to "surge" a power supply is f***ing confusing. Are you trying to destroy the PSU? Burn his house down? Just make the overload switches in his house go off? My computer is a huge beast and at the wall it only uses 300 watts, to make a normal computer trip an overload switch you'd have to do something drastic to it, 2400watts is the most you should put through one circuit.

Seriously, don't go f***ing with this stuff if you don't know what you're doing. What starts out as a prank ends up with you paying to get his house rebuilt from a jail cell.

If you want to be a mean prick do what I did to my brother, put the windows shutdown command in the "run" registry key. As soon as windows loads that it shuts straight back down again.

Melt heaps of solder all over the circuit board, so it doesn't blow until he actually uses it

Oh and if you build him this fabulous PC and put a s***ty PSU in it and intentionally make the PSU blow up you might also blow up whatever else is in the PC so if this is meant to be a time delay thing that works at first and then blows up you'll probably end up pwning the entire PC.

That's a good point
you're probably just best to disconnect the 12v leads that connect to the motherboard and drives, but hot glue them in place so they don't fall out.

Just chop a few wires and fill with magnesium

This sounds like an incredibly unsafe idea, I agree with whoop.

Either build it properly or don't do it at all, don't be a douche.

hahah :P

grab the psu & attach a 2metre length of copper rod to it's case. goto a golf course & drop the psu with rod attached on the ground in the middle of a field during a thunder storm. now it's time to play the waiting game.. or hungry hungry hippo if you have it.

Given any thought to the damage this may do to your house wiring?
