Yup got on this as soon as I read this post. Didn't have Valor, and I'm a steam junkie.

Valor isn't the greatest thing ever. Panzerkrieg mode (tank battle) is pretty cool for a while but the two other modes (comp stomp and assault) are really crap imo.

The new units in vanilla mode are fairly useless as well, except for the kangaroo when f***** brit players spam them with PIAT's but that is gay and imbalanced imo.
Instead of adding the new units to the existing lineup they replace a unit you already have which is a bit lame. I almost always pick the original units except for on british and t17's on America if I am feeling lame.

but for overall balance and playability, kickass graphics, unit models, multiplayer community and wait for it.... metagame CoH has no peer.

You are pressuming that everyone has fast internet. All I can get is a 1.5mb connection so 160kb/s max :(

Here's what I don't really get about cap issues for things like Steam complaints - why not just drive over to someone's place and copy their Steam cache? It'd be heaps faster + no risk about metering.

I don't know any (other) Steam whores in real life, you are all on the interwebs only for me.

If you already have a CoH expansion/vanilla installed (non-steam version), save some time by putting your CoH folder in the steam/common folder. You have to verify the cache at the end of the download but it still saves some time.

Or just get the freys filter and download freezone :)

And here I was thinking that STEAM was supposed to provide a convenient way to get games at home from the internet. May as well drive to a shop and get a box with it :)

It's convenient for Valve, but your ISP has nothing to do with Valve. Your ISP tries to provide it to you at no cost because they want you to see it as a favour, but Valve isn't particularly helpful in that regard.

Beware - the CoH on Steam by default installs a "RelicDL" patch downloader, which ALSO by default enables unlimited speed p2p sharing. Pretty f***ing lame.
