Saw at BigW and JB they have BigPond Music vouchers for 50% off for the $50 and $100 vouchers - so you can basically get half price digital download music. Pretty decent deal if you're looking to save money. It's all high quality mp3 stuff.

(full disclose: parent company Mammoth builds the site, but we don't have anything to do with this promo whatsoever; just a pretty good deal if you wanna get some cheap music or give a gift for xmas)

a bit strange that they're not showing this on www.bigpondmusic.com ?
or is it just the retailers both happen to be both doing the same 50% deal?

The quality of some of the songs on bpm is atrocious. Some are even 96kbps, how do they justify charging top dollar for that kind of quality?

I just got an email from APRA/AMCOS giving the new wholesale/license pricing on digital music. Holy crap these guys are making a killing!

For some reason, iIts only available at select retailers. I was quite surprised to see it actually, for Bigpond customers it works out to 75c a track.

It's cos of the process they have to go through when they change the licensing terms. I requested information about 18 months ago when I was considering a small side-project, but they didn't want to give me the information at the time without me divulging detailed information. Obviously I made it onto their 'keep-informed' list, and got the updated deets, hah :D

As it happens it's about 15% the cost I thought it would be to try this little project, so maybe now I'll give it some more thought.

I still prefer to, wherever possible, purchase my music directly from the artists and have something material to hold onto.
