I purchased a cdkey for MW2 from http://www.cdkeysdirect.com/
It has been working fine for a few days, however tonight I noticed the game has changed back to "Pre-Load complete". I have found these threads with others having issues: www.onlinekeysupport.com/index.php?/topic/591-contact-mw2-cd-key-invalid/ http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1031727 Seems keys bought from CD key shops online are being pwned by Activision/Steam... Anyone else bought from one of these stores? I know a lot of people who have used them for other games and has worked fine.. PS. this is not a bitch at cdkeysdirect as it doesn't sound like it is their fault - awaiting a reply from them RE: Refund. |

That sucks, however seems like a risky move to save about 6-7 dollars (steam is 60 bucks US).
I guess tricking steam into thinking I live in the US could also bite me the arse... hasn't yet though :P |

Email from cdkeysdirect.com
Hi there, If you just contacted us because of a problem with your Modern Warfare 2 Key this response is for you if it is not then ignore this email. MW2 keys that have not been bought from the "BIG" retailers have been banned. In our views this is ILLEGAL since we have bought the boxes personally. Opening a dispute to recieve your money is only going to slow down the proccess for everyone. We are currently working together with our suppliers to find replacements and refunds for keys bought. Once more information has been provided it will be posted on our site. Once again Paypal disputes will only slow down your refund. Give us 48 hours to work out the resolution. Kind Regards Tarleton Dewe Owner of CDKEYSDIRECT! |

This really sucks. I'd be pretty glad you're getting a refund though. Similar things have been done by Valve before I believe. I'm fairly sure they've previously gone and disabled a bunch of Orange Box keys that were intended for Thailand but sold online around the world.

Good on them for refunding. Sounds pretty lame, I hope they take it further. This seems like a clear right of first sale issue to me? |

It's classical regionalism attempts that the DVD publishers get away with thanks to DVD regioning. They want to sell expensive to some locations and cheap to others which is just a plain middle-finger-up at globalisation which is what the rest of us who retail something have to deal with. |
