Looks like an interesting game! Are there local servers? How does it work with multiplayer? (haven't read much tbh)

I'd love to have a game with someone. Not sure how multiplayer works but yeah. Doubt I can bring 1 of my 20 - 24 characters in. Cant choose who I wanted to play so I just got them all up decent height

fun game, worth a purchase even if you dont know anyone to multiplayer it with

more players = more fun though

My only complaint would be not having varying difficulty settings as the game feels very easy so far (32 hunter). Also it has quite a few bugs, ways of exploiting the boss AI etc and the itemisation seems a bit all over the shop.

Definetly don't let that deter you from buying the game though as it is great fun

Anyone else playing it under Windows 7? Doesn't work for me, I boot it up and I can hear the intro movies playing and stuff, but the screen stays black.

Just need to leave it Khel. I personally didn't have any problems on Windows 7 but a friend did when loading it up.

I think if you just wait for the videos that don't show to finish playing you'll get to the menu eventually. Alternatively you can try disabling/deleting all the intro movies and seeing if that helps you.

I think it's most likely to do with video codecs you (don't) have installed.

Disable Intro Movies

I've had this problem with some games in the past, and I got around it by changing the game to windowed mode for the first load (this was a pain, because I had to do it in the cfg files), then setting it back to fullscreen when in game. After that, they were fine. Maybe try that? I don't know what the cause is.

No problem with WIn7 Ultimate 32-bit. Update your video drivers? Driver Genius makes this easy.

Alt+enter switches to windowed mode for pretty much everything, it's a windows shortcut.

I've found that couple of times now Windows 7 has not loaded a game properly unless I forced it to load with Administrator rights, maybe try that.

If anyone would be able to shed some light as to why this would be happening, and how to fix it, that'd be great:

http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/5484/fffuuuuuuu.jpg

8800gtx / p4 2.4 quad core

It runs OK for about 5-10 mins in single player, freezes for about 10 seconds, and then this graphical glitch shows up. Sometimes I have to ctrl-alt-del out of the game back to windows, other times I can just hit Escape, and go back to the main menu (which also is displayed oddly, though not unusable) to quit back to Windows.

I don't think it's a heat issue, as it's just the game that freezes, not the whole PC. But yeah, the game is entirely unplayable.

Would really appreciate some advice.

Cheers.

without knowing for sure i can only suggest the usual stuff; driver updates, make sure enough space free on c: (might expand pak files in game) if vista/win7 run as admin, allow the app in your firewall/AV, turn your graphics down to lowest and test.

I just flat out can't connect to anyone, nor can they connect to me, I've open my ports, even tried hamachi for LAN play and can't get s*** working, it's not just me either but 2 other guys as well.

We couldn't get anything to work until the host forwarded his ports, then invited us twice. The first invite always failed, but the second would work. Great netcode, Gearbox.

Yeah, I got it working by running Steam in compatibility mode, but I'll try updating my drivers tomorrow anyway.

Pretty fun game, been playing it all night with some friends from work, got my hunter up to about level 16. It definitely has the same feel as diablo to me, even down to the races to get loot before everyone else and the inevitable ensuing arguments :P

haha yeah khel me and defi have been playing it all night, were up to to lvl 16 as well

hes a tanker dude and im a siren, my special class ability is pretty gayzor and i hope i can somehow improve it but!

would you or anyone else have a clue as to why even though we have bypassed his router and are running thru 2 (yes 2) switches, all of our ports are still blocked? i thought switches dont block ports :( had a look on the modem page (192.168.x.x) and thers nothing on there about port blocking. we cant figure it out

i got zero software running thats blocking ports, i dont even have a virus scanner, or software firewall on, and neither does he

Played it last night with Deeper and a couple of others, really good fun! First game in ages where I've lost track of time .. started playing yesterday evening and before I knew it it was 2am hehe. As others have said it's still buggy here and there, but they aren't major bugs and the fun factor far outweighs them. Definitely worth the $50 paid.

GameRanger developer here.

You can read more about GameRanger + Borderlands on the Gearbox forums here.

It's now being officially recommended as an unofficial solution (heh).

Oh, and GameRanger is Australian made, btw. :D

Got my first Eradian weapon on my Siren and then thought "aw f***... why wasn't I playing my hunter" and then got this the very first chest I unlocked when I changed to him.

http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/7646/brdlnd20091031191420.jpg

Apparantly that translates to OMG. I loled. I can't decide what character to play so I have 4, 1 of each which range from 27 down to 23. Slowly raising them all up.

Yeah, theres a whole s***load of different red text phrases you can get on weapons, and each one gives the weapon different bonuses and effects. Theres a list of some of them here

Tried that gameranger thing, it worked well, but it disabled voice chat :( Really sucks playing online without the voice chat.

Edit: I guess it might not have disabled it, maybe the game just doesn't support voice chat in lan games, either way was annoying.
