A new trailer for Avatar is out, this one shows alot more of the story and IMO is much much better than the first one. Click the link to access the HD version or watch it below.

This looks so good. Better than the last trailer. I just watched a CGI movie called "Battle for Terra" which seemed to be very similar to this one. Same sort of deal where humans are looking for a new planet and go to war with the natives. I highly recommend it.

Hmm, the beginning of that Avatar trailer sounded really wrong. The music didn't match the tone of the voices. Still looks like it will be an awesome action movie though.

I refuse to watch this new one if it shows more of the storyline. I LOVED the last one cause I was intrigued and made me wanna watch the movie to find out more - LIKE MOVIE TRAILERS SHOULD BE! Instead of telling us everything that happens.

So whats the go with this 3D stuff. Is Imax at Southbank the only 3d projector in Brissy?

I think the only theatre this will be shown at correctly is the 3D IMAX at Sydney.

The "IMAX" screen at Southbank is just a screen, films aren't screened in the IMAX 70mm format so the only option will be to see it at BCC.

Melbourne has one too

Yeah, that trailer was f***ing awesome, the first trailer didn't really do much for me, but that makes me really want to see the movie.

I don't think the South Bank cinemas have ever shown 3D movies. They weren't showing Up or Beowulf in 3D.

Years ago before the Southbank cinemas opened again (they were closed for a couple years I think) they showed 3D IMAX films. They were the 45 minute types like the Dinosaurs and Haunted House type ones - that's why the IMAX theatre eventually shut down.

Pretty sure they don't have the IMAX 3D projectors anymore.

CG is s***. This looks like really good CG, and it's still s***. I trust that the movie will be a great ride, but I have a lot of trouble watching animated characters trying to be passed off as real. If you want to have animated characters, make Toy Story 3.

this isnt just going to be shown at imax in 3d. any cinemas with the correct projector will be able to show it in 3d.

Watching the trailer for this on the net doesn't do it justice. When I went to the movies a couple a months back they showed the first Avatar trailer and it looked f***ing awesome on the big screen.

Fair enough, and I watched this again in HD on our 40inch LCD which looked a lot better (still no where near as nice as cinema obviously). Regardless, they're not fooling anyone, and I guess that's why I go to the movies. Most of the special effects in the original Star Wars still hold up against today's standards. I reckon if I could see Star Wars for the first time today, I would be in awe of how they did the special effects... a lot of mystery has gone with CG. This might just be a personal hang up of mine, but I do feel CG has a long, long way to go before it'll be acceptable to use as a big feature of a film. Terminator 2 used it sparingly to great effect, as did Jurassic Park. The CG in both those films s*** on the trailer for Avatar, imo.

a lot of people that saw the 20min preview a while back said the CG looks even more realistic in 3D. guess we'll find out in december.

@Billyhardball.

I am with you on the overuse. But it can be used to tremendous effect when done well.

In "Master and Commander: Farside of the World" the opening broadside between the Acheron and the Surprise was a terrific scene and for me at least it didn't generate a "oh that was just CGI" moment.

Avatar looks like a fun action romp, and the artistic style of it is visually stunning. I chuckled when they started listing James Cameron's movies on the screen though... I was thinking "It's a trailer, not a resume, mate. LOL."

I don't get the whole Battle for Terra thing though... it has a very childish look, but very grown up content. Who are they trying to appeal to? The style of it is quite interesting though. Something about it looks very French to me.

ravn0s, the only good thing he made was terminator 1 and 2. No idea why people are creaming their pants. I still haven't seen any of his docos so that could make all the difference.
