Some crack pot scientist thinks we are going to be immortal and cyborgs.

So if this is going to come true then I'm taking up smoking and stopping monitoring my diabetes!

if we reverse ageing then we will all need to find vaginas to go back into.

Yep Type 1, been so since I was 26.....no family history, no bad lifestyle just bad luck. But all that will change with my cyborg Pancreas churning out the insulin!

Spewin', my son was diagnosed last year when he was 12 with Type 1.

Again, no real family history (my cousin is Type 1 - but that's a stretch) and no bad lifestyle, just bad luck :(

Yeah I've been worried about my kids getting it now. They say no genetic link but there is something there. Would suck to be kid and get it, so much discipline to keep it under control.

Type 1 would suck. MS would suck more. Thank f*** I'm a lucky bastard. Looking forward to heart disease, Type II diabetes and glaucoma though - all of which grandparents have had on both sides of the family. Lock it in, Eddie.

Make me a nanobot to clean the dust out of my computer and I think my health and mentalness will improve.

The nanobots will be pattened by Microsoft and crash our bodies...nanobots as useful as it could be means someone else has more control over us, just takes 1 to rule all...unless some go rogue, in which case it could be a good movie.

Maybe I'll get some working replacement kidneys and not worry about anti-rejection drugs.

Kurzweil is a pretty famous predictor of science-stuff. I saw a speech by him at GDC last year I think; he was pretty interesting. He talked a bit about how many of his predictions have been right; I have this vague recollection that he was right slightly more than wrong. He's done some cool stuff though, look him up.

Resistance is floor tile, Prepare to have your ass laminated!!

Consider immortality, you live forever so there is no need to rush at doing anything. You'll eventually get around to it.

If people live for extremely long times, then laws for population control would have to come into effect. Such as 1 child per couple and such.

Even if this was viable now, do you really think the worlds super powers would actually agree to rolling it out to the average joe population?
Not likely due to population problems as just one reason.

Not to mention, even if it was available now, with the amount of people in even the developed world, I can imagine we'd probably be 50-60 before we got it.

I think the next generation (The one we all currently hate for being little disrespectful kids :P) will be either the first to live forever or the last to die.
As for you and me my friend, we're boned.

At least the space endeavour would have to pick up to find a new rock to colonise.

As I am today I know I never want to leave this world and miss out on my kids and my husband. But I also know I will get to a point in my life where I have done all I can and leaving will be okay.

I wouldn't want to be immortal in 20 years time. Anyone who does has issues!!

They are talking about reversing the aging process so you only have to hold out until then, then we can all be 18 again.....and hopefully not as dumb.

whats cool is that we could actually explore the far reaches of the universe since time would no longer be a problem.

Wasn't there some statistics that were published a while back stating that if humans didn't age after reaching a certain age that the average life span would still only be a few hundred years? Since the chances of you having a catastrophic accident would increase over time.

I don't want to live forever. I've lost a lot of fear of death in recent years, although a painful death is unappealing! Once the kids are raised and my family is OK I reckon I'll be ready to step out.

Time would still be a problem, there are technologicla and psychological issues that would need to be dealt with for longterm space travel.
