Topic: Buying mum a PSP or Nintendo DS or ????

I'm looking to buy my mum a portable gameboy. She is far from an avid gamer but has heaps of spare time on her hands and could use a bit of stress relief.

So a few google searches and I'm still at square one. From what I can see the only handhelds out atm are nintendo DS (lite) or sony PSP.

From what I can gather the PSP is a bit more of a hardcore thing? Are there any other handheld systems that would be good for a very casual older gamer?

I'm looking at maybe getting games like loco roco or rhythm/mind challenge games.

Thanks.

My mum loves her DS. She's got stacks of games now, all the brain training ones, arcade, puzzles etc.

The amount of potential mums jokes that can arise from this thread is mind boggling and i don't know where to start...

Buy a DS because it's so easy to use expandable storage for linux isos.

Ok seems like DS is the one to get. Why not DS lite?

So I'll get her a DSi, Dr kawashimas brain training and 101 in 1 megamix.

Thanks heaps guys. Saved me a fair bit of research. Now to go bargain hunting. :)

Definitely a DS. Between Brain training, the Professor Leyton games, Peggle, Mario etc you've got a tonne of casual-friendly titles for her to kick back with.

This. Also, if ol wassername (That blonde chick I think from Grease) does ads for them they must be good for the older people.

Definitely DS. I bought my gf a PSP and it was an epic fail.

JBhifi had a good deal on a mario coloured ds a few weeks ago, might still be on.

I like DS but not buying either. You need to catch a train or have some free time at some stage somewhere to use em.

And I am now a poor 17 year old (with a happy mother). :)

Here's hoping she enjoys it.

Anyway, thanks qgl.

Well, she rarely plays with the DS Strange Rash, and it's one of the few technologies she can use.

if your mum does your washing, or cooks you dinner regularly, then don't buy her a DS - she may slack on important s*** like that once she gets hooked.

Phooks, too bad about (1) being poorer and (2) being 17 years old.

f*** that, wish I was 17 again.

No responsibility, chill out with mates at school, long holidays 4 times a year with an awesome one over summer. 17's where it's at, yo!

But yeah, f*** being poor.
