Word getting around the traps is that the illustrious Gabe Newell of Valve Software maybe be gracing our shores.

Local lad "Joe W-A" has called Gabe's bluff, and created a fund-raiser to fly the big man to Brisbane to check out his L4D campaign, which Valve previously said they were boycotting. Gabe said he'd come check it out if Joe W-A flew both Gabe and Erik Johnson over here.

It looks like enough money has been raised already, but of course more donations would be welcome. All extra money will be going to Childs Play, which is a great charity to get behind.

Nah, Valve flew two guys from the "L4D2 Boycott" Steam group to Valve so they could play L4D2. This modder bloke sent an e-mail to Gabe asking why he wasn't flown to Valve, and Gabe's joke reply was "We are boycotting your campaign".

I have that same polo shirt. It's a fraction of the size though.

Looks like Gabe has agreed to come, after they ship Left 4 Dead 2.

Really though, why wouldn't he, its a free holiday paid for by random people on the internets.

gabe would be an ass to accept the money for the ticket given the fact a) he is undoubtedly filthy rich, and b) the blog guy is donating the difference to charity already, why not let him donate all of it..
