Hey kids,

I have an avi file that I want to submit for broadcast purposes, it needs to fit a couple of submission requirements but I have no editing software.

I need to reduce it from 30fps to 25fps.

I also need to easily set the resolution to 720 x 576.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Been trolling google this morning, havent found anything to help me thus far.

Thanks for your help :)

Give MediaCoder a go. Warning, it's pretty unstable in my experience.

Try a video encoder like xvid4psp or similar. It should allow you to rencode at 25fps and also resize the output to 720x576.

There's also virtual dub mod but ive never used it much.

VirtualDub? I pretty much use that for all of my FPS/resolution editing needs.

What you are talking about on both those points is simply saving it in 'PAL DV 25i' format. Or rather - starting a project with those settings, and importing and transcoding the footage into the project to match.
Most cameras in australia record in PAL DV 25i anyway, so just edit it in it's native format, unless you are stupid and rich and bought a HD camera in which case you will have a nightmare of a time doing anything.

You should also look at filtering your video with broadcast colours (removes the whitest whites and blackest blacks) - but I assume the Funny Video people have some legal obligation to do this even if you don't.

What he said is that he needs to reduce it from 30fps. Read the OP.

hey thermite, maybe you should read slower
but I have no editing software.

OP: just grab mediacoder - free and pretty straight forward GUI transcoder.
