Kotaku AU confirmed Sony's forthcoming PSPgo, the re-imagined (and stylish) update to the suffering PSP, will not necessarily hit the ground running, but instead stop at a set of RRP AU$449.95 toll gates. It's pointed out that price-point, ridiculous unto itself, despite being in line with the EU price-point, is a mere $50 less than the new PS3 Slim. Maybe the various Sony departments need to start talking to each other. I can't imagine too many people are going to care enough about 16gb of inbuilt flash memory or a new control set up for that price. |

Crazy. Especially since the RRP on the DSi is $299. Good luck with that one Sony.

Pay a tonne more for removal of features and a design which will inevitably give your hand cramps like its 1991 and you're 12 years old playing pokemon on your original grey gameboy.
edit: oh yeah and will not probably have CFW available for.. well maybe never if dark alex never comes back :( last edited by skythra at 15:35:56 21/Aug/09 |

so the new ps3 is confirmed at $500 AUD? Not too bad, though I got my 60gb one for that price 18 months ago (ebay).

What do you expect in the Australian market. Everything here is 2-3 times the street price in places like Japan or the US. My suggestion to you is to import because even with shipping Japanese and US versions are much much cheaper. No problems with compatiblity either because all PSP and PS3 games are region free and all the hardware charges/operates on any wall voltage. Vote with your feet. |

all PSP and PS3 games are region free That is true but that may not be the case with the PSPgo since the games will be all downloaded pretty much. May even lock out foreign consoles |

Also I've heard dvds and Blu-ray can be region encoded. You know, just in case you want to use your PS3 for those. |

But both US and Jap PS3s are BR region 1 which means cheap and plentiful BRs from US sites like Amazon.com before they`re even available in Australia. People seem really uninformed on this site. |

Lol that is so s***. Who's playing portable gaming thingos anyway? No one. I have a PSP with custom firmware and a 16GB memory stick with 20 games on it I downloaded for free. It sure makes daily bus trips a lot more fun. I can also remotely access my PS3 at home if theres WiFi and watch any of my movies on my 2x USB 1TB HDDs. Was doing this the other day in a shopping mall. |

(PSP newb) Are they ever going to actually upgrade the PSP? Or just redesign it every few years?

Sony, not content with just shooting one of their own feet with the slim, has now squarely plugged the other foot full of lead with the only other thing they may have had going for them. Seriously, epic fail. |

I just read about the slim and it sounds like a good next step. Smaller, more efficient. pretty much.

Wait, they are releasing the slim soon? Why wouldn't they first drop the price on the current PS3 some more and get rid of stock in stores.
Now the stores that have current PS3's wont stock the slim until they get rid of most of their older ones (but they will eventually have to stock it regardless) or they have to drop the price on them and possibly loose out. GG Sony. O and PSPgo slightly cheaper then a PS3 Slim.. W T F. |

THe fact they removed all backwards compatibility is what got me. That, and I don't trust them to make a decent compact design after the hit the PS2 did when they release it's slim version. Lag and overheating to the max! |

Yeah, backwards compatibility is long gone. People just thought it might come back because the hardware is cheaper to produce, so they could include the necessary hardware for the same price.

I agree with ctd, hand-held games are seriously for pedos. However saying no-one plays them is stupid. Theres way too many pedos in this world. |
