Is there a problem with setting up a sever in Japan for uh... ISO's(knoppix, ubuntu and the like)? I notice when I get ISO's the best d/l rates are from comps in Japan. Any thoughts, anyone want in?
A proxy sever with a secure tunnel I hear is the way!

For what purpose? You won't be able to get them quicker to your computer since you still have to transfer the data from a host in Japan just as if your BT peers are in Japan.

Yeah but from what i can tell there is uber fibre-optics linking Aus to Japan. 1 extra hop wont make a difference.

uh even if you setup a proxy server it stil isn't just one extra hop, its every hop in between to japan still

the only benefit of setting up the proxy server is to get files off mirrors that allow only .jp connections
