bought my place 3 years ago, stairs out the back were rusted, so i got them replaced with some nice new non rusted ones (metal frame with wood steps, stairs are bolted to house)

now we're ripping out the back patio and putting in a deck, so the stairs are coming out;

im wondering can i sell them to someone?

they are metal and cost us 2 grand to make, id hate to just throw them out

who could i sell them to?

any ideas?

kwila? that s*** bleeds like a bitch dude, expect any concrete under to be stained. And anything on it when it gets wet to be stained.

It's a good timber though. The bleeding eventually goes away....

Also, think of the rainforests!

Spook, if it comes down to it, we sold a bunch of scrap metal to some place.. (so descriptive..)

Got a few hundred dollars (sorry don't know how much it was)... So it's probably not the price you're after, but as a last resort (if you need it) i could dig up the company.

I'm sure someone will want to purchase the entire stairs though, i just thought i'd throw the option in there.

eBay dude..

this year I met a guy who makes his living just buying stuff off eBay then flogging it to builders and suppliers. Light fittings (industrial), steel walkways, shelving - he grabs anything and then flogs it off.

try and put as much technical description (measurements, metal grade if you know it) and photos as you can. these peeps don't care for something if they've got to come out and see to get an idea of it's value eh.

pre recession maybe joanna
but nowadays steel is <$200/tonne, so you'd get next to nothing for scrap

Simms metal are the big metal recycler in brisbane, i've seen entire concert stage sets taken there for scrap (robbie williams tour). But as already said, the buying price has gone down rather sharply.
