Sometimes I just don't understand censorship. My gf and I were filling out her Triplej Hottest 100 of all time last night and we were cruising vids on YouTube when we came across the well-known 'Gaybar' by Electric Six (below).

The words censored in this film clip are 'nuclear' and 'war' (and any combination thereof).

According to Wikipedia - which everyone knows is a perfectly reliable reference:

As the single "Gay Bar" was released around the time of the American invasion of Iraq, radio airplay changed a line from "Let's start a war, start a nuclear war, at the gay bar" to "Let's do an edit, do a radio edit, at the gay bar!". In the UK, the words 'nuclear' and 'war' were censored by a 'whip' sound effect.

And even more crazy from that Wikipedia article is the censorship of their song 'Dance Commander' (great clip, btw) of the lyric "You must obey the dance commander". That's insane censorship.

Last night something Bruno said on Rove was censored. They didn't censor when he said f***, and they showed the knitted genitals, and all kinds of nasty things he was saying... so I would really love to know what they censored.

Katie Holmes. Don't ask me why this was censored. I was watching a few interviews on youtubes and he says the same thing. "I get more sex than Katie Holmes"

Weird. What's the reason for censoring that? I can't see any legal issue.

Umm well on the topic of music back in '96 Michael Jackson had to rerelease his album because of a line in it "Jew me, sue me, everybody do me" and he was accused of being anti-semetic, so he supposedly changed the line to "Chew me, sue me, everybody do me" but the only difference on the album is a sort of the sound of a microphone being dropped when he says "Jew me" almost like to censor it.

Bloody jews eh.
