Following up on our recent E3 preview and interview of Brink, the awesome folk at Splash Damage have sent word back to AusGamers, confirming that the game will indeed use a dedicated server model on PC. Splash Damage Community Relations Manager Steve "badman" Hessel writes: "we can confirm we are definitely going to have a traditional client/server setup for BRINK on the PC, so we will not be using P2P there.". After our questions at E3 were met with "we're still working that out" -- especially since there was so much emphasis on their goal of platform parity -- we were a touch concerned that Brink on PC might be following the console shooter model and going Peer to Peer. So it's a relief to hear that they're going to treat PC gamers right - although we really shouldn't have expected any less from a team that started out as a PC mod developer. |
