Topic: Netting Suggestions?

We need to rig up some sort of barrier thing on our verandah to stop errant ping pong balls from flying off and pissing off our neighbours below us.

We really just need like a netting thing - I was thinking maybe there's something like a net made of fishing wire that some of you fishing-types might know about that would be cheap and really easy to rig up?

Thanks for any suggestions!@#

I think any sort of net or chicken wire would be sufficient, just get whatever is cheapest?

just some sort of shadecloth
buy it off the roll from bunnings etc

Employee a busty topless bird to catch it before it goes over.

Much more attractive than netting.

Shadecloth is okay, but you'll lose light (~$7.50/m, 1.8m wide; ~$15/m 3.6m wide)
Bird netting will probably be better: usually in white or black, 4m x 4m pre-packs (~$4) or 2-4m wide for about $4/m.

Guess what job pays my rent while I'm at uni?

Probably a good idea to check with your body corp before buying anything. Will be a waste of money if you put it up then some wanker whinges about it and you get a breach notice to take it down.

Look for some hail netting, it's only about 10% shading so it won't block your light and it's pretty cheap.

It's funny when you find out s*** like this like - like there's different levels of light shading for nets. It's really amazing how in-depth stuff is.. I mean I just thought nets were nets. Craziness. Thanks guys, I'll check out hail and bird stuff, looks like a goer!

As mentioned above, just head to bunnings and get them to custom cut you something. Might cost a little bit, but depends on how badly you need to retrieve those ping pong balls.

Also, got a little giggle from the word 'zip' in Kat's post.

Full canvas, I don't think anyone wants to see your ping pong shows.

yeh we've considered this but at this point in time I think we'll just risk it and if they whine then we'll deal with it then... atm I'm more worried about the complaints from the neighbours from constantly having tio fish balls out of their garden

no complaints about that - from what I can tell the noise mostly just bounces straight out horizontally so you can hear us easily across the road but not so easily above/below us :)

^^ omg yes, then you can get a cat too! Double win (cept that the ping pong balls are likely to go thru the holes...).
