It's not that great I thought. I've had to d/l it because someone in the office needed to convert old lotus' files over to excel.. and it was slooooooooooooow as to do anything.

I guess it is a tiny bit slow but on a powerful desktop it is not a prob. Nice interface, though it does seem to bundle all it's word/excel/powerpoint functionality into the one program/window.
It's not opensource.

they force us to use lotus notes as our email client on staff PC's at uni. Its a f***ing joke. Some of the s***tiest software ive had the unfortune to deal with. I can't imagine there Office equivilant being any better.

I think its funny that QLD Health want to change from groupwise to exchange but they cant because their union says it will make the Novell specialists useless....

If all you do is basic word processing and spreadsheets, I say screw all other office apps and just use google docs. It's the shiz.

Pretty much everyone I know just laughs when Lotus is mentioned.. I've never seen it (I think a friend used it at her law firm until they migrated to Exchange a bit later, and she complained about it sucking a lot), so I dunno what the advantages are over exchange

Domino f***ing sucks, plain and simple. In my last role, I was given the task of getting Exchange and Domino to talk nicely together on the same domain. I spent a couple of hours installing and configuring Exchange so it ran perfectly, then about 3 weeks beating my head against the bulls*** that is Domino. Then I resigned :D

We use notes at work....because they developed an audit documentation program on it. It's not bad for what we use it for, but f*** SAKE, spent like 2 hours going through an exported report today because it didn't copy across the bullet points and case properly. And don't get me started on the undo functionality, spell checking etc etc.

The only thing worse than using lotus is having to accept the giant managerial turd that your manager drops in your mouth just prior to being forced to use it.
