It's been a while since we've heard anything about the long awaited Natural Selection 2, but today they've debuted the game's first teaser trailer. The long-awaited sequel to the popular Half-Life 2 mod, Natural Selection 2 will instead be a standalone title and is pegged for a Steam release before the year's end. Today's teaser is purportedly all in-engine footage, including the familiar Onus creature at the end which will once again be a playable class in the sequel. Two teams of up to 16 players face off with unique abilities in dynamic, evolving environments that change as you play. Watch spreading alien infestation deform hallways, then use a flamethrower to clear it. Cut the power to disable marine structures or weld a loading door shut for defense. No matter what side you choose, you’ll never play the same game twice!Head over to the official site for more information. |

Still play NS pug daily! All they needed to do was create a better looking NS1 and throw in a few new features.
Should have stuck with the source engine instead of going off on some silly tangent. |

f*** yeah! I should crack out my copy of HL and play the original Tried this. Still pretty much my favourite MP game ever. Still probably looking forward to this above any other future release. Also disappointed they didn't go with the source engine because I am a bit sceptical about the quality of an in house engine. However it was pretty f***en awesome what they did with the HL engine. f*** yes but, fall 2009. I was thinking early 2010 at best. |

I follow the progress a few times a month and a while ago they said they are designing their own engine because the source engine was taking too much time and had limitations for what they wanted to achieve.

OMG wankers! as if not use source! (since its easy for me doing server admin stuff =p ) The engine question Our own custom engine. NS2 started life on the Counter-Strike: Source/HL2 Episode 1 source branch but has since moved to our own custom engine. All the gameplay code was written in Lua so most of the game translated over smoothly. Actually I don't really care as long as its nice and easy to use/configure like the source engine. |

Yeah...don't know why they didn't go with Source. I think this is one I won't be pre-ordering. If there's a demo I'll try that but if not I'm not handing over cash monies for it. |

One thing I hope they don't do is listen to the serious business players too much. When NS1 was first released you would get these epic 3 hour games where everyone was noobing it up awesome fun. Then a few updates and a TDM style mode of gameplay the game wasn't as fun.
Though I will still hand over my $20 dollars for this game regardless. Considering how many hours I spent playing NS1 they deserve my money in a way. |

hehe, I've already put my special edition pre-order in. Bring on the game!!! And I loved both normal and combat games. Loved hunting down the last marine or alien... when the cry babies on the server weren't screaming "finish it!" |

NS1 was great, I liked flying around as the bat and spamming people with poison.
I would have insta-bought this game if it was done on the HL2 engine, however I am apprehensive about an engine built from scratch, so will have to see how it plays out. |

Similar to the RTS/FPS style of savage.
There is still a 24 player GA server that is pretty popular so give it a whirl. All you need is HL and download the 150meg installer. http://www.naturalselection2.com/ns http://www.ausgamers.com/files/details/html/27319 |
