Hey guys... .. . what do you reckon about this computer for gaming? ? ? was going to build my own system but this looks pretty sweet. . was also going to update to the 24" Viewsonic Monitor instead of the 21.5" samsung AMD AM3 x4 Phenom II 955 $ 1390 http://www.msy.com.au/SYSTEMS/Amdgame-3.pdf |

if you're after a gaming system you'd want something way better than a 9400GT.

Things to note......IDE HDD and ROM....bad. You want a SATA HDD and ROM.
Shaw cases are very cheap thin steel and the PS is rubbish. Stick to a Antec/Coolermaster/Thermaltake case with matching PSU will cost you an extra $100 over the Shaw but worth every penny. If you can't build it yourself then get them to build it for $50 or whatever they charge and spec it yourself. ASUS P5Q-PRO mobo Intel Quad 8400 4 Gb Geil RAM 1Tb Seagate HDD Sata Pioneer 217 DVD-RW 512Mb GTX 250 XFX Antec 6580B Case (with PS) Viewsonic 24" LCD Microsoft wired kb+m $1329 + build cost much better system Load Windows 7 RC1 onto it and you got an awesome gaming rig. |

Pre built systems are usually fairly terribly bad because they cbf'd updating them regularly.
Get what mass said but instead of the GTX250 get a 1GB 4870 Powercolor for an extra 60 dollar. Dunno what PSU comes with that case but. Oh and if you getting it for games. mx518 mouse, microsoft fail. last edited by ctd at 13:23:57 27/May/09 |

I was under the impression AMD has sucked at processors for a few years now...
Core 2 or i7 is the way to go. |

Yeah but the price jumps are quite big for the i7 CPU X58 mobo combo. Low powered quad cores are best bang for buck at the moment.

Definitely swap out the 9400GT for a 4850/4870.
Just select parts and pay them the $70 to put it together. MSY ftw. Simple :D |

Yeah what CHUB said. Stop looking at the pre-built setups :(
You'd be better off going into MSY and going "hey I have 2grand and I want the best gaming system I can get with that budget" and they will hook you up. |

wait a minute here, the thread you necro-posted in got locked because you're a s***ter.
now you're necro-posting again to try and (very poorly) pay out an admin? you really do suck at forums, buddy. |

i really hope you don't own/work at the lan cafe you're spruiking in your profile.
it would be mind boggling for someone to work somewhere like that and be so bad at the internet! |

Things to note......IDE HDD and ROM....bad. You want a SATA HDD and ROM. Why ? A cheap SATA drive is no better then a cheap ATA drive. The bus is not the limiting factor. You might notice a tiny difference in burst figures when you get lucky enough to hit something in the drives cache. In fact I'd advocate an IDE dvd drive. Leave all your sata ports free for HDDs. I mean yeah sata is better then ata ... but ata is not bad Also I wouldn't get the nvidia 250 given the small price difference to a 4870 |

no, that's not what makes you useless.
what makes you usless is that you don't check the time/date of a previous post before reviving a months old thread. then when an admin understandably locks that thread you post a pathetic comeback in ANOTHER MONTHS OLD THREAD. it's as if you've never used the internet before, which is why it amazes me you pimp/work for a LAN cafe! also it seems you struggle with english/typing, so i don't have high hopes for you tbh. anyway, you have a nice day ;) |
