I need to post a printer interstate - what would be my best option here? Criteria = smallest price possible
It's about 30x20x15cm (l,w,h). Weight = 6kg. Auspost or courier? About $20 I'm hoping |

I sent something around the same size (little bigger actually) about 1KG heavier for $20 by normal post recently.
www.auspost.com.au if I wanted to go registered it would've been $80 though |

chances are the printer is worth about $80 these days so just tell them to buy a new one at their end?
printers are fragile, far too fragile for the likes of CHUB and his kronies it will not make it in one piece and you'll end up having to buy another one anyway I did this when I moved to Sydney, got my old man to pack it up and he said "you know, this wont make it in one piece" I sighed and agreed, just went to office works and got a full multifunction center for like $70 + $12 for 11ty billion litres of ink on ebay last edited by tequila at 14:54:57 26/May/09 |

I work for aus post near the airport sorting express post. Australia post do not have a fragile service. If you do post a printer I can guantee it will not work on the other end. All our parcels are 'tipped' into a conveyer belt (about 1 metre drop), thrown into ULD's or into bags then into airline containers.
If you don't feel safe throwing the printer at a wall, DO NOT post it. |

slinky, what genious thought it was a good idea to have the machine like that? What purpose does it serve to its efficiency etc to drop thinfs 1m? The mail comes to us loose in a OLD (1.5m x 1.5m 1.5m metal cage) this somehow has to be emptied onto a conveyor belt. So the ULD must go at least 1.5m into the air so the mail can be tipped. The first mail that falls out of the ULD falls the furthest distance and breaks the fall of the following mail. All the mail following will still make the same fall, but ontop of other mail. The mail that is then stuck in the ULD, a shovel like rod is used to hit and scrape the mail out. We get broken bottles of wine and spirits through all the time. Unless the office of Lodgement put a "do not tip" sticker on the ULD, it all gets tipped
Very possible that you can do this. But they will want to see a recept saying you paid that much for a printer, that's if they cover it. Ring and find out. |
