Activsion have officially announced the long-expected Guitar Hero 5, The next full sequel to the hugely successful franchise, not to be confused with the new compilation, portable and band showcase Guitar Hero titles due in the coming year.

Wondering what else Neversoft and Activision could possibly add other than just more new songs that might get you buying the next iteration? How about multiple players on the same type instrument (3 drummers and a vocalist for example) and drop-in/drop-out party mode?
Guitar Hero 5 features the strongest, most varied set list to-date comprised of master tracks from 85 of the hottest bands of today and the biggest classic acts including; Kings of Leon, The Rolling Stones, The White Stripes, Santana, Vampire Weekend, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, plus more than 30 artists from a variety of music genres that will be making their music-rhythm video game debut.
Stop by our game page for more details and the first bits of art work.

Guitar Hero 5 is slated for a Spring (Australia) release and expected on the usual platforms.

to be able to play the same instruments, something that should have been done from the beginning.. Is this the one with the DJ turn table thingy?

God, 3 people on drums would be awful, so much clacking all at different times

I'm over the guitar hero stuff now. RB2 was s***, well the way the game progressed was utterly retarded. Whoever thought that was better than the original way should be shot.

Yeah, I'm kind of over Guitar Hero/Rock band now too. Once I finally got Guitar Hero World Tour, I played it for about a week, then stopped almost entirely. Even at the last gathering I went to at a mate's place, some people played GH for a little while before everyone else got bored and demanded it be swapped over to Street Fighter 4.
