I have an undisclosed DVD which is damaged, worth a lot of money, and I need to get it working.

Is one of those DVD cleaning things at a video store going to cut it ?

Wouldn't happen to be Adobe Creative Suite 3 Disk #1, would it? :)

I'd also like to know if those video store things work. My son moved the 360 while it was on with GHWT in it and scratched the disk in a perfect circle. (another known problem with 360's - don't move the unit when it's on and has a disk in it!)

Now the disk doesn't read :( Going to try video shop scratch repair if they work?

But surely software manufacturers would link you, or send you an ISO when you pay $5000 for a f***ing application suite

Its a joke

Yeah I'd hit up the manufacturer for a replacement disk if the software is that expensive.

If it's really worth thousands and you can't get a replacement, I'd take it to somewhere more professional than a video store, there are places around that specialise in that sort of thing.

The machine we have at work will get it looking brand new again as long as the scratches aren't really deep. Any disc can be buffed back to a nice finish again. Games, DVD's, music and burnt stuff. Only ones I wouldn't chuck in it are Blu Ray. They have some anti-scratch stuff on them already so I dunno what would happen with those.

If you can't find anywhere let me know and I can do it for ya.

Surely you've got the Key needed to install it? Just grab a warez version that isnt pre-cracked, its exactly the same as what you have and if you put your key in its perfectly legal.

have you tried calling adobe? they have a 1800 number in Australia: 1 800 504 971

I'd be massively massively surprised if they wouldn't replace your media for a nominal fee

Where do you work Rev? I might drop GHWT in to get fixed. How much does it cost?

I'm at video sleazy. No need to pay either, it only take a couple of minutes to chuck thru and then it's done. PM me and I'll tell you when I'll be there.

This.
And another reason why the 'backup' argument people use for pirating s*** is just pathetic.

You are 100% allowed to copy software in Australia for backup purposes. From copyright.org.au fact sheet [PDF]. For those like me that hate PDFs with a passion, the relevant part:
Making a back-up copy of a computer program
The owner of a legitimate copy of a computer program may make a back-up copy of a program, either to use in place
of the original copy, or to store as a backup for use if the original or an earlier back-up is lost, destroyed or
rendered unusable.

The provisions in the Copyright Act also allow copying of software as part of a normal process of backing up files for
security purposes.

The provisions do not allow copies to be made from an infringing copy of a computer program, or if the owner of
copyright in the program has blocked the making of copies of the program (for example, by the use of 'locks' or
other technological devices built into the program). Also, the provisions do not apply if the licence governing the
use of the original has expired or been terminated.

The back-up copy may be made whether or not the copyright owner makes an express direction to the contrary at or
before the time of purchase, for example on the package.

Note, however, that this exception applies only to computer programs, and not to other copyright material (such
as music, words, artistic works and sound recordings) that may be accessed by means of a computer program.
Therefore, you would be entitled to make a backup copy of a disk or CD-ROM that only contained computer
software, but not a disk or CD-ROM that included other copyright material, such as a computer game, music, text or
images.

edit: you'll note you can't make backups of computer games though, which is pretty f***ing ridiculous
