So the pilot of Caprica has just aired (I haven't watched it). Is anyone excited about this? What do you think it will be like? I personally think it's just another way for them to make money off what is now a brand name. But then again, I didn't watch s4 of bsg, so I guess I'm not as excited as some might be. I might watch it if people say it's worthwhile though.

From wiki:
Caprica is an upcoming television series set in the fictional Battlestar Galactica universe. Set over 50 years before the events seen in Battlestar Galactica, Caprica will tell the story of how humanity first created the robotic Cylons, who would later plot to destroy human civilization.

I will give it a try but I'm certainly not excited, especially if resembles anything like the caprica set scenes in the BSG finale

new bsg series need more cylons (chrome & shiney black plastic ones with a red chaser led for an eye) & less soap opera... much much much less soap opera. :(

I think this will be bsg with all the emo and zero action... so exactly like the final episodes of bsg then.

Well, the first half of it (or first three quarters even) was pretty s***, I had to keep reminding myself I was watching a BSG spinoff and not Dawson's Creek, but it ended well, even if the whole Adams/Adama reveal was pretty obvious.

The timeline seems a bit weird though, its 60 years before the fall, and the little kid is Bill Adama's father, so unless it jumps forward 40 years or so we're never going to see the cylon war, since the little kid has to grow up, get married, have kids of his own, then his kids need to grow up and be old enough to fly Vipers in the war. In the flashback bits in Razor, Adama looked at least 20 when he was fighting in the first war.

So thats kinda disappointing, because I can't say I really give a f*** about a couple of dads who are sad cos their daughters blow up, I want to see cylon war!

Ohhh ok, Joseph is the dad not the kid, that makes a lot more sense. Still, unless the series is going to jump 15 - 20 years into the future we still wont see cylon war.

A cylon war would be boring. I'd rather see the day to day life on Caprica. Things like janitors and school teachers, interesting stuff like that.

It would need to jump 8 years forward to see the start of the Cylon War iirc.
And still possible I guess that there's smaller scale conflicts before then. But yes, would be nice to see the actual war down the track.

They've certainly gone pretty deep with this one - some pretty cool ideas surrounding resurrection.

In typical BSG style it shows what nutcases are bred by religion. Definitely looking forward to more.

I join trog in the rofling. Post of the week!

Interesting story but yeah, too much dawson's creek is about right.

The war being 8 years away is no big problem for them if they plan to jump through the years like BSG did.

Battlestar only jumped one year, when they were on New Caprica. That's how I remember it at least.
