Ok guys, hit me with your best steak marinade!

I've done abit of googling and come up with some ideas but since theres a few good cooks around the place thought I'd check here.

My first idea was splash of olive oil, black peppercorns, some herbs, and some ground chilli powder and that sit for a few hours, though this also looks interesting:

Mine isn't specifically for steak, I mostly do it to chicken, but since I'm not too creative I use it for steak as well.

I usually start with a s***load vinegar and/or lemon juice and oil. I like soy sauce and sweet chilli flavours so I add those in. Sea salt and cracked pepper are standard but if I have some other spices I'll play around with those too.

Then I just bulk it up with sauces like tomato, bbq, the nandos sauce, or a stir fry sauce that I'm trying to get rid of.

I tend to eat the marinade mix as I'm making it, so I get a good sense of whether I like the flavour.

Sometimes I throw in some honey or golden syrup to sweeten it up - I have no idea if this is a good idea but I've seen my mum do it.

Oh yeah I've been putting garlic, onions, pickled onions, and dill pickled cucumbers in lately too. Actually it's mostly the pickle water that I like the flavour of.

Who marinades a good steak? A bit of seasoning perhaps but don't marinade it.

It's almost as bad as throwing a shoe.

No-one mentioned marinating a good steak, just good marinades for steak.

Also, the simple as f*** marinade is crushed garlic and soy sauce.

Marinade - Equal quantities of BBQ, Tomato and Worcestershire, with a dash of Soy and LOTS of crushed garlic and cracked pepper.

Salad dressing - olive oil, crushed garlic, lemon juice and sea salt to taste all shaken up together.

1/3 oil, 2/3 Worcester sauce. Lots of cracked pepper and lots of salt (preferably freshly ground). 2-3 tablespoons of tobasco sauce. 4-5 cloves of roughly chopped garlic. Use BBQ sauce to thicken up the marinade.

Cook on baking paper to ensure that the garlic and marinade isn't turned to a crisp too. Darkjedi can attest to the taste :)
