Topic: New Bungie IP Not Exclusive To Xbox 360 Or Microsoft?

We nabbed some great interviews over at the Tokyo Game Show this year, but we unfortunately missed out on catching up with the elusive and secretive Bungie boys. GamesIndustry.biz didn't however, and during their interview with the Halo developer, managed to pull some juicy information regarding their future.
"No, we're not [tied into a specific platform for new IP]," said community and PR director Brian Jarrard, speaking to GamesIndustry.biz at this year's Tokyo Game Show. "We haven't gotten that far yet to be totally honest. In theory we do have every means to go out and find the right ecosystem, the right partners, to align with. So who knows what the future will bring us."
While that's still a fairly loose statement, the overall tone of the whole interview reveals the team are looking at a broad horizon for their non-Halo related projects. Could we be seeing an update to their Marathon series? Would you be happy to see Bungie games on other platforms beyond the Xbox 360?

As long as it came out on the 360 also, i don't think any bungie fan is going to care.

i think fanboys might scoff at the bungie people.

halo gets a lot of s*** from sony fans, so i think they might not be that receptive to a new bungie ip on their platform?

also: bungie has a pretty loyal fanbase on the 360, i think they would be pretty crazy to either leave them behind. so i think its safe to asssume that whatever bungie does next it will be available on the 360.

The same thing happened with Rare. They had all the Nintendophiles (me included back in those days) so irate they would leave Ninty and move to Microsoft that their first batch of games (although pretty crappy TBH) for the Xbox and 360 were huge flops

I think bugnie being a partially? owned MS company, and then splitting from MS again after halo 3 is pretty common knowledge, especially to bungie advocates, and most people now support bungie, not MS bungie.

Bungie had a fanatic fanbase on Mac before they sold their soul to Microsoft. Bungie, like all development firms, are mostly interested in making lots of money. Now they are not bound to 360 exclusive titles, they'll be producing on any platform that they think they can make enough money to swim in.

what does that have to do with

Would you be happy to see Bungie games on other platforms beyond the Xbox 360?

As long as it gets a 360 release (which it will, bungie already have a base there) it's not going to piss off any of their former customers as it won't effect them. Which is really similar too.

As long as it came out on the 360 also, i don't think any bungie fan is going to care.

You do know that Rare didn't leave Nintendo but Nintendo left Rare?

Yeah, but that didn't stop the Nintendo loyalists abandoning them. Plus Nintendo, at the time, said very little about it (as they ever so slowly let most of their second parties go like Silicon Knights, Left Field et al), whereas Rare came out with that not-so-cryptic Christmas Card that had the various competition platforms wrapped as presents under a tree with the words "and surprises around every corner" or something, which kind of told the community they were moving independently.

But I digress. Yep, I know that :)

Video doesn't play on Flash Player 10 OS-X (not sure if same with WIndows).

Just so you know.

I wonder though if they're not Xbox exclusive if MS will spend as much money pimping their stuff - so even though they might have a bigger market, their marketing/promo budget might take a hit.

Probably won't matter if they actually make a decent game though. Let me know when that happens (ahaha)
