Buy an Aeron - figure out how much money you spend on your car over 12 years and how much time you spend in it per day, then compare that to how much time you'll spend in your chair every day over the same amount of time. it seems expensive but over 12 years its nothing, and your back and body in general will thank you for it. Go try one at at the place they sell them first of course, but they're worth it.

So that's what they're called. Used one a while back at a place I worked for and they were damn confortable compared to other office chars I'd used. Never knew what they were called though.
Seems the Aerons sell for about $1400-$1500 here in Australia. Damn sight cheaper on ebay though. So.. try one at the store and find out which size you want then buy it off ebay (about $850 USD inc shipping) ? ;) |

Just a heads up: half the people who usually suggest an "Aeron chair" are probably referring to a different Herman Miller model than those in the actual Aeron range.
I'm sitting on a Celle at the moment, fkn comfortable. Only problem is the material used for the seating section makes my clothes and skin smell. last edited by parabol at 00:16:31 17/Aug/08 |

If you're only gonna sit on it for a couple of hours a day I wouldn't get those super expensive chairs, but if you gonna sit on yo ass for 6-8 hours a day, 5 days a week, then I'd say pay a bit more and spend at least ~500 for something decent or bite the bullet and get one of those uber chairs.

I got my chair from http://www.sitbackandrelax.com.au/ They are in Sydney so I just headed over, tried out the different sizes of the Aeron to see which one I needed and went home and ordered it. Took a few days to turn up and it was all done. When it comes to your back you really don't want to be cheap. Also, if you use your computer/desk for work you can depreciate the chair over a few years in your tax return. |
