Amazon rocks for books.

I've found some books on there for US$20 that are $100+ over here.

Agreed. I've been quoted 2 month order delays in bookshops here in .au.

Instead ordered from Amazon at half the price and it was here within 3 working days.

There are also gadget/toy/etc sites that might be of interest:

Amazon for books.
JensonUSA or Cambriabike for bike parts. Although ChainReactionCycles (UK) is also good because of the weak US dollar.
ThinkGeek for general geek crap.
Snorgtees and a few others for random tshirts.

www.deepdiscount.com for dvd's etc are good, a lot of cases better pricing than amazon and s***loads better on shipping. They also always to do at the end of the financial year and at the end of the calendar year a 2 for 1 discount of a pretty big range of titles.

How about buying guitars or amps from the US? The price difference can be pretty insane.

Hm, there's some cool stuff on thinkgeek... but some of the stuff I was interested in isn't available to be shipped to Aus (i.e. plant stuff). Anybody know where I could order a little lillypad or cactus kit from Australia?

Its not that the Aussie dorrah is good its that the Greenback is going down the tubes.

It's both. But yes, mainly the US dollar tanking.

Parity will happen any week now. :(

hmm i was watching the late news and they were saying the next US depression is only a few months away. ah well that's what happens when you base an economy on a system of lies and debt.

Exactly.

My advice to anyone wanting to go to a boom or pre-boom economy - start learning Cantonese, Mandarin or Hindi.
