Hi All

I've got a little problem at the moment. I currently have a generic type razor handle (which holds sentimental value to me so i'm not gonna change)(btw all the handles in the house use the same fitting/blades, so i don't think it's a weird one). My problem is, I have been using 'Wilkinson Sword Gel Response' blades for it (for years and years now) and they seem to have been taken off the market. They are your typical style cartridge type head, two blades, and you push a button on the handle and it spreads out two little clasps and you push the head on and it grabs it.

My problem is, when I go to the shop, all the blades are in packaging and i can't see how they fit on the razor.

Does anyone know of any brand/type which is compatible with my handle?

post a pic of the razor head?

maybe try going into "the shaver shop" or one of those men's speciaty shaving stores (i know theres one at chermside) and getting them to do with work for you in finding a blade that fits, or else try ringing 'Wilkinson and seeing whats up with those blades if they are discontinued or maybe you can order some or at least of all find out the blade spec and use this info to get something off ebay

Spook - nah, g/f gave this one to me, gold handle...

doob - i will when i get home. probably the best idea i'd reckon.

gimpy - done that, three times. i just get there, look at everything, get a headache and walk out frustrated. all the boxes are so damn sealed and the picture doesn't give me an indication of the actual mecanism employed.

I'm curious to know how much sentimental value a razor can have? Things I've come up with in the last 30 seconds are;

- Used to shave your first girlfriends pubes (which begs the question, why are you using it on your face).
- Used to shave your own pubes (which begs the question, why are you using it on your face and does it really make the boys look grander).
- The first razor you ever used (did you keep your first condom too).
- A Gillette Mach 3 passed down from generation to generation.

.. and I'm out.

Edit: I see!

ha ha you're funny ticman. girlfriend gave it to me many years ago, i love it, gold, fairly heavy, perfect size, perfectly weighted, it just seems to be 'the perfect razor handle'.

do it like a man... use a cut throat. Once you go cut throat you never wanna go back.

i can tell you that ALDI's Machen Zie Sprei will not fit on a mach 3 handle

if anyone would like to buy 3 bags of Machen Zie Sprei blades off me, i will do them a good price

I think a Gilette refill pack should do the trick - it sounds like the same connector bit mine has got.

We used to sell those razors at IGA about 2 months ago... or have they gone off the market since then?

cut throats are the bomb, started using them while i went over seas. I never want to go back to standard razor blade stuff now.

You will cut yourself a few times at the start, but its easy once you get the hang of it.

get one.

yeah i use one and i love it, i wanted to grow a pencil thin moustache so my dad got me a cut throat so i could sculpt it and it works a treat, now days though im so lazy i just grow a beard, then trim it with clippers then clean shave it with the cut throat as i could not be f***ed sculpting my facial hair, i do that about once every 2 - 3 weeks.

and yeah you will cut yourself up abit it first but never anything serious, its all about taking your time learning the curves on your face.
