That report came from Taliban's Voice of Shariat radio, which is monitored by the BBC.

It quoted the deputy chairman of the Taliban Council of Ministers, Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhond.

A senior Taliban official later fiercely denied the report, but reiterated it would make such a declaration if Washington attacked.
