Destructive Brisbane forward Gorden Tallis has confirmed he will make a comeback against Parramatta in Sunday's NRL knockout final if he receives a specialist clearance later in the week.

Tallis suffered a serious neck injury in May and was told not to play again this season.

But scans of his fractured neck have convinced the 28 year-old second-rower to take the biggest gamble of his rugby league career provided his specialist gives him the green light.

Tallis has denied comeback plans for the past month.

But speculation he would play surfaced again yesterday after he trained with the Broncos and following reports punters had suddenly jumped on Brisbane to win the premiership.

"I've got my fingers crossed (that) they give me the all clear," Tallis told Brisbane radio station B-105 today.

"I'm certainly not game fit and I couldn't last the full 80 minutes.

"But I'm sure I could give the side a pretty good 20 minutes in each half."

Tallis admitted his mother and fiance were both worried about his plan to play.

"It's up the doctors, they're the smart ones,"

said Tallis who pointed out that other players who had the same operation had played within 12 weeks.

"It's been 17 weeks. I had a scan about eight weeks ago and my specialist was happy with the way it was mending," he said.

that would be good if tallis came back, the man was a tank, i remeber one game he had three guys on him and he still kept going, was awsome

As good a player as he is I think he is a fool for trying to get back into such a contact sport with such a neck injury.

He is risking an awful lot.
