Ok im trying to install Grim Fandango, its my mates favourite game ever and i played it for a little while once and did find it quite run, but when it opens up and i click "Install Grim Fandango" it says

---------------------------
16 bit Windows Subsystem
---------------------------
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
---------------------------
Close Ignore
---------------------------

Yes i realise i should probably know what the problem is but im a complete noob, all help greatly appreciated.

Look for alternative exe files on the installation cd or in the isntalled directory, I assume its autoruning a batch file when you insert the CD?

Edit: i know ive played this on XP, played it last year, such a f***ing awesome game, so if you are still stuck, i can give my copy a look at when I get home tonight.

perhaps check out some lucasarts forums? I know there's a SCUMM emulator which I used to play day of the tentacle and fate of atlantis...perhaps there's some tips for getting grimm fandango working?

I know this works under wine with only windows xp libraries so I'm gonna go ahead and assume it also works under stock standard windows xp

could it possibly have something to do with one of the following:

- winxp compat settings not turned on
- visual studio installed.. i've seen it f*** old programs up like that
- xp sp2 installed
- running xp64?

There is a patch for this game, I had to grab it from the Luca Arts site some time ago when I tried to install it for my kid. worked a treat after patch.
