Hi guys, I work for my dads High Pressure Welding Company and I'm very keen to do a Mechanical Engineering course towards it. However i'm not sure which UNI I should do it with... I heard some UNI's are good for such and such courses and other UNI's are good something else.
I have been considering UQ but I have heard that QUT is technically minded aswell... What are your thoughts?? Cheers. |

You should also download thier course curriculums, and compare which Uni has more stuff that are more relevant to/interests you. At the end of the day either UQ or QUT degree would be comparible in terms of "street cred."

My cousin did Mechanical Engineering at UQ almost 10 years ago but said if he was to do it again he would definitely go to QUT.

Sounds like it.. I was just speaking with admissions from both UQ and QUT.. UQ had some crazy pre-requisite requirement that I can't meet straight away and UQ had a pretty relaxed requirement of an OP of 8.
Guy at UQ sounded like some pansy and QUT seemed more relaxed... I think I'l have to go with QUT.. Thanks for ya help. |

Shows how much the universities should invest in their admissions officers.

Won't make much difference - they both suck hehe. Choose whichever one you can get to more conveniently.
PS. I did engineering at UQ. last edited by orbitor at 14:58:55 26/Sep/05 |

Just make sure you don't go to Griffith.

Meh the uni dosnt matter too much, it comes down to your own talent, skill and determination, the last being most important.
So choose the uni that would best suit you, things like travel time, costs, work load and whatnot, these things are what are important and are differnt for everyone. |

I'm doing Engineering at UQ, and I picked it over QUT because I find their campuses extremely depressing. It's all just concrete.
I used to be at Griffith and that was depressing too. There was hardly any social atmosphere like what you see at UQ. Oh and Griffith is full of hippies. |

Next to no chicks in engineering either, at least a 15:1 ratio by my guess. last edited by CHUB at 19:02:58 26/Sep/05 |

UQ engineering school would have more in terms of prestige and research projects going on, but QUT has better clubs.

After seeing the quality of some of the lecturers at QUT, I'd choose UQ. f***, I'd be tempted to choose griftafe.
