I've decided to make the move to Outlook. Of course, because its a pain in the ass, its decided to make it a f***ing mission for me.
When I load it up and try to connect, I get the following when I try to find my name to establish my profile: "The name could not be resolved. The name could not be matched to a name in the address list. " Googling, it doesn't seem to be an uncommon problem, but none of the solutions I've tried has fixed it. If I search for anyone else's name in the office, it finds it not problem - just not mine. Anyone ever seen this before? I know there are a few Exchange-types out there. |

Yeh, connecting to an exchange server. I don't know nuffin about how exchange works so if there's any basic information I might have omitted please let me know :) I'm logging into a domain and my exchange account is, I suppose, attached to that.

Also, I can log into the Exchange webmail thing with no problems using my account details - but if I load the address book from there, I can't find my name in it (but I can find everyone else's no probs)

tried setting your dns suffix list up?
(under tcp/ip properties - dns) As well having the 2 boxes underneath this ticked.. Fixes the problem everytime I have run into this issue at work, depends on your network though I guess :p last edited by 59fifty at 19:08:21 19/Sep/05 |

If you have access to the Exchange server check the advanced properties on your account and make sure that 'hide from address book' option is not checked (it sounds like it is checked, hence you cannot see yourself in the address book list and why your name cannot be found when you try and set up outlook). Once you have then set up outlook you can set it back to hiding

it sounsd like you are an OWA access user trog, basically you dont have mapi access and your user details are restricted to web only.
check the settings for your account and make sure that you have mapi access i guess? if you can access webmail and cant access outlook then thats the general solution (here at WC) |

I'm guessing your trying to use OWA
If that's the case, your login should be the same as your Domain username/password. Couple of things you should be aware of though which I ran into recently myself. If the Web Access has been "hardened" then only specific users who are or have Admin access on the remote client will be even able to connect via the web interface The only other way that I'm aware of that you can do this (you ready, its brilliant!) is by being granted physical local access on the Exchange Server! PS: Exchange sucks balls Oracle Collaboration Suite in conjuction with Application Server for the win =) |

pfft exchange rocks.
the admin interface should be able to switch the user level from OWA to PC and Web access pretty easily, it may take a couple of hours to update though unless you force change it on the server itself. |

Exchange is a piece of s*** compared to Notes or Groupwise.
Groupwise is the freakin win. And if you are really in love with outhouse, groupwise is fully compitible with it (but personally ... groupwise client pwns outhouse) |

looks like the problem I'm having is related to the Recipient Update Service - specifically #3 here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297801/EN-US/ :(

I used to get this error when setting up mailboxes for new staff at work. I'd usually just wait a few minutes and try again and the problem would have corrected itself...
