I need to hire or purchase speakers for a party type event coming up,

anybody know of any good CHEAP places to hire 2x 150w speakers + amp for under or around $100?

Or anybody know of a decent brand of speakers that i can purchase? recommendations etc. Also recommend outlets to shop around at? Ebay seems to have alot of "dodgy" no brand speakers (i assume by the price they are going at), any brands to steer clear from will be appreciated also.

The fender portible kits are the win if you can find one. Solid, designed to be moved and used by noobs.

ive got some old pc speakers you can borrow

IJS has quality gear, and for good reason, considering a lot of stacks at BDO, livid and other festivals come from IJS

I didnt know BJs was still going. I did some work with a guy from there aaggeeeesss ago.

yeah BJ's somehow cornered the karakoie and low end install market, doin well from it which is suprising.

i got a qoute from a place:
$200 for 2 technic's turntables + mixer, 2x 600w speakers on stands (not quite sure on the details actually on that one) + amp rig.

is this good for the price?
