anyone for a deep and meaningfull ? haha
Anyways, just wondering if anyone has actually been involved in a long distance relationship over the internet ? At the moment im "dating" an American woman, yeah i hear the lol's and rofl's now, even a couple of keke's... But wait - it gets funnier ;) We met playing WoW She is moving here to study nursing, and shes coming early to visit me in October. I can happily say im in love with this woman, yes for those critics - i do know what love is, i've been married and i have a wonderfull kid, yet... for some reason.. i find myself being jealous and my head goes places it shouldnt for example cheating etc. Not me cheating, wondering if she would. Would you consider it cheating??? Its difficult for me to get my head around the whole situation sometimes lol. She has her flight number and we web cam every day - and the phone calls.. well i have bills to proove that we love to just talk... not that you can do much more when 1. Im in ausralia and 2. she lives in the States ( at the moment ). Soooo - what causes someone to get jealous over most likely .. nothing .. and also - how the f*** do you stop ur stupid mind from thinking those things? My last relationship ended badly with my ex cheating on me 3 times and then leaving me for a weasly drug dealer. Got ego crush? sure did ! Thats the only reason i can come up with to why i would be thinking this - or is it the lack of physical contact and the unusually extended distance between us. Ideas? I want this on to work =D Oh yeah - i confronted the drug f***ed hippy and made him cry with out laying a hand on him, and everyone now knows what a whore she is ;) (the ex) discuss ! |

yeah the distance would be a major thing man.. my missus, i get really worried about stuff sometimes when i don't see her for a few days, because i think dammit she doesn't like me or something, i mean it could also be because you think she deserves better than you, like if you're insecure about your looks or something, which i sometimes get a bit worried about too.. but then i just tell myself no she likes me and she wouldn't want anyone else, and if she did do something, then it's her loss.. seems to make me feel better..
don't worry about what c*******s say man, it's your life, if you're in love good on you, wish you all the best. :) |

Its all good - i served 6 years i the army, and i used to worry then but yeah not as much as now. Call me a little bitch if u must but its getting to me lol
I am 99% certaini have no reason to worry what so ever, or if i have a "right" to worry so far as relationships go - so i guess im chasing more opinions from those, if any, that have been involved in long distance relationships before |

lol you 'clicked' in WoW. I see the funny. honestly it sounds really cheesy dude but hey Love is teh pwnerer of all so good luck with it. The jealousy thing over distance will only be fixed by a) forgetting the whole thing or b) getting together. just keep busy till you hook up. I was in a similar situation in my younger days NSW/QLD thing so I speak from exp. If I wasnt working I would have went nuts. Sorry to say it didnt work out in the long run. Distance really kills. You should really watch pure pwnage 6 as well if you havent. There is an excellent track on there you can play at the wedding. ;) |

oh i forgot to mention my g/f lives half an hour a way, which doesn't seem too bad, but when she doesn't drive, sometimes we only see each other once a week, and hardly talk on the phone, hence the worrying.

Think you're a cock for making your ex's bf cry tho, whaddya do? expose your hairy ass to him? |

Idol - hes one of those a******s that was saying absolute lies about me behind my back to her for about 2 months and telling her she should be with him etc, so he deserves everything he gets.
No i just went from 1 club to another to find him, after him and his mates called me out for being a chicken s*** cause i didnt do anything about it, and they kept running - i eventually caught up with them outside the irish club and his mates had bailed on him, and as much as i wanted to smash his face through a shop window - i couldnt even hit him. He looked scared enough as it was, so i got my sweet revenge by the look on his face. In my opinion he can have her now lol. Guess i was just beating myself up over a silly whore ;) |

depends on what you call a long distance 0relationship? 20min drive and only being able to see her on weekends is my long distance. i use to worry that my girl would get bored with me or start to like someone else or perhaps cheat on me. but im kinda over that now, i know her well enough to be confident that she wouldn't do that to me (of course you can never be 100% sure). i would say its because your insecure.

pretty hard to smash someoens face through that strong glass anyway.
One time I actually climbed through an ex grlfriends window early one morning when I saw the new bfs car parked there. They both woke up and he pulled the blanket over his head. So funny. She told me to get out and slapped me and when I was leaving I grabbed her and pashed her she luved it. After that she let me root her every now and then. BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA SCOGGEX THE CONQUEROR |

I am a very jealous person. But I am no where near as bad as I used to be.
I to was cheated on and even though your head knows it isn't happening (or at least wants to believe they aren't and trust them 100%), sometimes you can't turn the auto pilot off. It takes time and patience. |

Im in ausralia and 2. she lives in the States ( at the moment ). ever hear of net meeting? hell I think msn even has a voice thing I know ICQ has a plugin. whitewolf i have the same problem, think they'll get sick of me or find someone better, god knows i've been in a relationship where i've been waiting for something better to come along, so i think the same will happen in return.
also, hermi, bodybuilders get women, fishf***ers don't. |

In my opinion, the one thing that is the most important with a long-distance relationship is trust. You both have to trust each other alot. I'll admit I'm in the same situation as you - I met a girl in America online and we both clicked really well, was over in America for E3 in May so have already visited her and she will be here visiting this weekend for a few weeks.
If you're both into each other the same amount, then all you have to do is look at yourself and tell yourself that you're into her so much that you wouldn't cheat on her or wouldn't even consider it, so if she's into you the same amount then she wouldn't do it or even consider it either. I think it's natural to think the jealous/cheating thoughts whether it be a little or alot, and I think it's due to not being able to actually be with the person. As I said it pretty much comes down to trust, and putting your trust in someone who you have never met in the flesh is infinitely more harder than someone who you have met and know what the person is like. Until then, like I said above you just have to trust them, and keeping in constant communication with them will definitely help you do that. Being in a long distance relationship is definitely harder and this is the reason why alot of them fail. As long as you're both willing to stick with it and see each other IRL from time to time (I believe this is important) then it should work out fine. Just don't be stuck in a long distance relationship for years as I think it would do more harm than good. |

Tiny - speaking from experience :P ? But yeah i know what you mean, I've recieved plenty of pics and when we web cammed - it was her :P so im all happy and i wouldnt say no to her having her way with me. So it wouldnt be rape. |

it works both ways though, absence makes the heart grow fonder.. i've been out with girls that i've seen every day or two and just really gotten sick of them after a month.. now when i see my g/f if i see her once a week i am so happy when i see her, or twice a week is even good, but we both have other things to do, so it doesn't seem as if we dont WANT to spend all the time with each other.

yeah she does lol - i linked her to them for the spoot and joke threads ^_0 Perhaps asking for advice on a forum where your gf frequents isn't the best idea in the world. If anything it will probably make her a little shat off that you are jealous because you (appear to be on these forums) don't trust her and think she is going to cheat. Moving along though, the only cure for jealously is trusting each other completly which is hard since you don't have that physical contact aspect. These jealous feelings will stay with you until you do move onto the same continent/state/city and see each other a lot more on a physical level. Also, with the whole internet/WoW thing.. who cares. This is a new age for meeting chicks and it can happen anywhere. Personally I'd rather meet someone thats participating in the same activities that I enjoy (masturbating to porn, playing WoW, whoring forums) over picking up a random in a pub where you can't even say hello without straining your vocal chords. Provided you were both horde and met while killing an alliance NE rogue, it's all good. If you both sit there going /flirt all day though, that's a deeper problem than jealously. |

I'm with a girl atm, been just over 2 1/2 years together? and i trust her with everything i have that she wouldnt actualy "cheat" on me, but it doesnt stop my head from making up the most stupid'st scenarios i have about 6 or so hours a day at work to talk to no one but myself and make this s*** up. I supose it doesnt help when i've never met any of her guy friends except when one of them took her to the formal (we're 1 year apart) i've just dug myself into a depression hole and cant seem to find a quick way out i know i will but at the moment im turnin my life into a living hell. The way i fixed it last time was to turn cold and unemotinoal and boy that didnt help my relationship with her. So i know how you feel you are your worst enemy most of the time. I sometimes think her idea of "havin some harmless fun" is diff to mine but i cant stop her from havin a social life cus that is just wrong, also prolly 90% of her friends are males, it f***s me over. I cant help, but i can give sympathy >:

if we're all telling internet dating stories, i spoke to a girl for 2 months then went to perth to see her, everything went awesome and we were into each other, until we realised i had to go back to brisbane for more cancer treatment, and we just started arguing i guess so we wouldn't have feelings for each other, i still have a crush on her to this day even if it is not much and i will probably never see her again

You could always develop a fetish for girls cheating on you and abusing you, that's what I did.
I don't get jealous anymore, I just say OH YES BABY, DO IT, DO IT YOU BAAAD GIRRRL!! YOU NASTY GIRL! YOU'RE SO TOUGH! NO WAIT, DON'T HURT ME, PLEASE DON'T HURT ME, OK, DO IT, JUST ONCE, BUT IF YOU DO... OMG, I WILL NEVER TALK TO YOU AGAIN. PLEASE. DON'T HANG UP. |

Doesn't matter how or where you find em ... gl to you
But I'd lose the whole jealous clingy thing. If you love something/one set it free, if it returns they love you, if they don't then they aren't the one for you anyways. But given she is coming all the way over here to start a life etc etc ... I'd say you got nothing to worry about. |

There you go, fixed =) ps, I boned a chick from Sth Africa I met over the net after meeting her on irc years ago, Another who was Latino. Sth African chick One of the most amazing chicks I have ever met (an she was an absolute babe as well, actually, so was the Latino). Specially loved the way they spend all the cash to come over an meet me =) If you have seen each other online, an aren't phyically ill and can chatter away about all sorts of s***, then enjoy it for what it is. Don't project your insecurities onto someone who could be a completely different person to any you have previously met an all will be well Now, where did I stash my rohypnol?? |

yeah man everything is good now, cheers.. and i still talk to her on msn, but we have different lives now.. i would speak to her for a good 7 hours on the net, then get on the phone for another 4-5.. just hard to get over the last one you were so keen on.. my longest relationship took me ages to get over her until i met the perth girl, so now she's the one i have to get over, but i mean i dont think about her constantly.. just enjoyed her company and whatnot

маvєяık, come to the Regatta with me and I'll get you someone new to forget about the old ones. That's the best method. When I'm down about things not working out with a girl, I just drink myself stupid (hahaha, yeah for something new) and crack onto every girl I can find with big boobs.
Isn't tonight young student girl night?!? I'm a bad man. |

jealousy leads to frustration.
frustration leads to anger anger leads to the loneliness loneliness leads to suffering. i think jealousy is something you can only over come with trust. if you trust the girl there is nothing to worry about. i mean REALLY trust her. i think a lot of girls truly believe they wouldnt do anything deceiving while in a relationship but i have seen it change rapidly. especially under the drink. but then again it comes to defining what cheating is. also you can only make the situation worse by being jealous and trying to counteract the opportunities the signif other to "cheat" by being overbearing, forceful, paranoid. etc etc. you will lose her or become so worried to a point where you will create situations in your head and start believing them i dont think i am a jealous person (anymore) it needs to be clear what the ground rules are eg. seeing no-one else intimately. or whatever they might be. then once these are understood believe in her and trust her that she wont break this understanding. it isnt hard to overcome jealousy but it takes a change of thinking, something that may take a while but do yourself a favour and get over it. its a much better way to be. well thats my 2 cents |

1. Your are good enough, unless you have lied to her then she obviously likes you for you and that counts for alot.
2. Jealousy is just a waste of energy, unless she lives in a trailer park and watches Jerry Springer she's probably a normal caring individual, most people will not go out of there way to hurt others. 3. Long distant relationships are very hard, net relationships even harder, as long as both parties have been completely honest then its no different to meeting any where else. 4. October is noth that far away, I think she will be as excited as you are, and if you wouldn't do anything to jepodize *spelling* this opportunity why would she? Doubtful, very doubtful, she would have to be one very cold fish, and I doubt she would have lasted this long if she was. I'm no expert on women, this is why I'm not married, but I can tell you as long as you romancing her I doubt she need to look else where. |

I'm a paranoid little soul.
And with a certain select few people i always suspect the worst =\ especially when there has been little contact in days. But then those people have been the ones who have f***ed me over before, and i have great reason to be paranoid. People that havent done a thing like that, i can go for weeks with out seeing them and not suspect a thing (not talking about relationships here) |

Jealousy is for the weak. So is anger. Fear is natural (part of the reason you're still alive), but cant become a dominating force.
Master your emotions and stop being such pussys. |

The reason you get jealous is because you would cheat on her if the opportunity came up and you assume she is as weak as you.

I've recently hit it off with this girl from England. I've never fancied someone over the net before. We both really like each other, she's really nice, really pretty (and I know it's really a girl, because I've called her), but it's frustrating, because it can never really go anywhere. All I can do is just sit back and hope that she doesn't get blown up :(

The reason you get jealous is because you would cheat on her if the opportunity came up and you assume she is as weak as you. Utter bulls***. You get jealous because you are scared of getting hurt. When you know what that hurt is like you usually get a s*** load more scared than other people. I think you are confusing those who ACCUSE people of cheating, do it because they either are or would do it themselves. |

if ur jealous then it means u dont fully trust her... for whatever reason...
if you dont fully trust her.. SEND HER ASS TO DA CURB a healthy relationship means you fully trust that even if ur missus is hanging around other blokes all day whatever.. u know she only wants to be with you i have had girlfriend i have trusted 110% and we would be out clubin and if i left her for a min and some crackhead started trying to chat her up.. i knew she didnt give a f*** about them.. and i never got the smallest hint of jealousy... other girls i have gone out with that hasnt been there.. and i dont wanna be in relationships like that.. so i treat it as it is... a friendly f*** friend and leave it at that... also i make sure i'm clear with girls in the begining... i tell them if they fell like f***ing other guys.. thats ok.. just tell me so i can nail there cat to the front door on my way out lol |

Yeah great one! You haven't dealt with any real relationship issues in your life and yet you think you know the human brain... Sorry but being young, dumb and full of cum, doesn't mean the entire human race is |

Love is bulls***. It is a chemical reaction in the brain that is necessary for the procreation of our species. There is nothing 'magical' or special about it - it is simply about necessity.
What I find much more special than love are purely platonic relationships. The bond between two people who have been best mates for years, or a platonic male-female relationship has no strings attached, no alterior motives behind it. It is just pure trust between friends that isn't created by some primal instinct that has been Hallmarked out of proportion. Your chemical reaction that you call love will have you cheating if it is a strong enough one. |

and since then we have really clicked, like a house on fire.. hopefully neither of us will get burnt.. You do realise that when it's all over, a house on fire takes your house, your posessions, your money, and then just pisses off? i couldn't never make a 'gf' over the net... seroiusly.. I met two of mine on IRC, though after the second I promised never again. And for those that are wondering or thinking they're on IRC for a reason, the first was an absolute hotie. |

Love is bulls***. It is a chemical reaction in the brain that is necessary for the procreation of our species. yup. There was a recent study by a lab here in australia called "The bio-physical chemistry of love" or something. Exact details were complicated and hard to remember, but the cliffnotes was something like: - You have two chemicals, O's and A's (they have more complicated names) - One of them drives sexual urge, and I think the other drives physical attachment - In females, I think the A's go psycho during sexual encounters, increasing feelings of attachment - In males, they just want a beer Id link you, but I dont know if there was a link or not. Ironically enough, my girlfriend was telling me about it. |

scientology in da house... werd.
anyways.. What do you call the bond between father and son? Love and Lust are 2 seperate things, though USUALLY to have love in a male/female relationship that is intimate, there is lust involved also. Just cause a report or a scientist says something doesnt make it correct =) last edited by xaltd at 15:33:47 29/Jul/05 last edited by xaltd at 15:33:54 29/Jul/05 |

Well I'm an American girl that met an Australian guy over a video game. (And yeah I know it sort of sounds stupid when I tell my friends/family that aren't gamers too. Kinda hard for some people to understand. Esp since we're both attractive, intelligent people - not the *stereotyped* sorts of net-relationships.)
In some ways I feel we got to know each other better because of it though. We vaguely knew each other and talked strict gaming stuff for a couple years before we *really* started talking. And then we became great friends for about...ten months, talking nearly non-stop before we met irl. But I trust him implicitly and don't think he'd ever do any of the bad things my ex ever did. But it's been great, and I'm quite happy. It really is hard though. Trust and frequent, long communication are the most important things to keep in mind for it to work. I think for long-distance relationships that trust is even more important than in one where you see each other every day. You need to figure out why you're paranoid. Is it really just because of your ex? Or do you get some sort of "vibe" that she's not honest? Because as much as you talk, if you don't get that feeling that she's not an honest person or is hiding something important, then you should have nothing to worry about. You should know her pretty well by this point. The upside to net relationships is that you generally do a lot more talking and get to know each other better/faster than "real life" ones. But if she's moving there, then that will help a lot. And certainly cut down on the cost of airfare! ;) Will she be in the same city? Anyways, best of luck to you and I hope it works out! |

Haha Obes, not at all what I meant. ;) Just pointing out that there is a decent amount of people (my parents come to mind) that have this stereotype about people that browse forums, game, or spend lots of time/meet on the computer. They assume that people you meet on the net you can't have real relationships with, are ugly or geeky or dumb or anti-social, that they're going to be stalker rapist creeps that steal your credit card info, that it's just a huge waste of time, whatever... There's a few out there. Which we all know to be untrue. That's why I said it was a stereotype. ;p
But still, it even comes into play among forums and stuff to a lesser extent. "omg a computer chick is actually hot/smart/a real live woman!" Dunno how often I've heard something along those lines in reference to just about anyone with boobs that plays video games hehe. More times than I can count though. Of course, being a woman, I've probably been on the brunt end of remarks like that more than you, and so I'm a bit more sensitive to them and how often they occur, even within the gaming/net forum communities. |

Girl gamers are old hat now, I'm more interested in meeting girl programmers. I have never ever worked with any female programmers in any of my jobs ever, I'm starting to think maybe they're a myth. No girls at all in the programming stream of my degree either. I need to find a hot female programmer that loves geeks, and then I can make witty programmer jokes like "You... you had me at printf()" and she'll laugh and think I'm awesome and we'll all live happily ever after.

Still, if girls are such old hat, how come I still get *told* every few months that I'm not really female? ;p Well the concept of a girl gamer is old hat to me, I mean it just seems like a totally natural idea to me, why wouldn't girls play games? Games are awesome, and girls are awesome, so of course the two would come together at some point! I'm sure though that the intertron is still full of plenty of pimply faced pre-pubescent CS players who sneak peeks on their sisters in the shower, and these are probably the ones who have trouble believing that girls (OMG LOL GIRL GERMS!) would frequent the same gaming forums and engage in the same past-times they do. I mean, girls are meant to play with dolls and do each other's makeup and gossip about boys aren't they? Girls dont play games, thats unpossible! Girl programmers do not exist sorry Khel. I refuse to believe that damnit! People used to say the earth was flat too you know! |

Ok, I guess I dont need pics, I have it on good authority that you are indeed a girl. But you said "vb is ok", so I still have my doubts about you as a programmer!

Let's face it, there is basically no hot chicks in highly technical IT roles.
I've never ever heard of chick doing high level sys admin stuff. It's because guys are smarter and better at these things. Same with coding. Seen some hot chicks do some web development sorta stuff, but that's not really that technical and they still couldn't clean a virus off their computer. And the exceptions to this, are ugly. Thanks |

Girl programmers do not exist sorry Khel. Unfortunately we picked the wrong professionwe had a babe of a girl doing IT programming at tafe (we had 4 in the class, 1 looked like tralor trash, 1 was an indian chick that was easy on the eyes, 1 was an average girly, and 1 real honny of a girl, which was who i hung out with at lunch) i must have been the first person ever to flirt with a girl while codeing. |

Hahaha, gimpy is stupid and possibly gay.
You only think that hot chicks arnt in highly technical IT roles and are stupid because a) They are smart enough to instantly recognise you as nothing more then a dick, so they act dumb to make you go away, and it works, over and over again. b) the amount of females doing IT roles compared to males are lower, most probably because it is a fkn boring set of jobs and that it is full of dicks and the people handing out those cushy jobs are also dicks, why would you want to work in that if you dont have to. c) See a. Then there are all those scientific advacements.. |

Well the way your last relationship dosnt help with the whole being abandoned thing. Being jelous can come from being scared of being alone, or even change. |

ahaha, I think you are all confusing Love and Lust/DesireIronically you are. Remember that love is just an overused word invented by humans to describe the feeling the chemical reaction gives them. |

"Remember that love is just an overused word invented by humans to describe the feeling the chemical reaction gives them."
Or... chemical reaction is the term used to describe the emotion of love, used by those that need a reason for why some things just are. No - im not saying its not true, i totally believe it, i just dont think you should down play that emotion so much fpot =) |
